Blog Hound: Blogs Mostly Critical Of Barber’s Comments

With Tiki Barber implying during his NBC press conference that part of his reason for retiring was that he was being worked too hard by Tom Coughlin, criticism towards Barber isn’t lacking across the blogosphere.

That Guy Sports Blog

“There is a lot that bothers me about this. The first is that it’s obviously a cheap shot at his old coach. But why go public with it? If you don’t like the guy, that’s fine, but it’s not as if Coughlin refused anything less than what he demanded.”
The Bottom Line

“As an NFL analyst, Barber can publicly blast Coughlin until he's blue in the face, and he probably will, but the timing of this smacks of sour grapes. When I read what Barber had to say about Coughlin, for the 75th time, I just couldn’t help but wonder why T.O. is toxic and Tiki Barber isn’t?”
Valentine’s Views on Sports

“Barber's act has been wearing thin for a while now. ... He has spent the last two seasons undermining his coach, publicly criticizing Tom Coughlin whenever things did not go well -- meaning whenever the Giants lost and Barber felt like he didn't carry the ball often enough.”
Lordz Of Vengeance

“You gotta love how he waited until he got that cushy media job in hand, and then came out blasting on Tom Coughlin. Don’t bash your former employer during the interview process. I learned that a while ago.”
Giants 101

“On one hand Coughlin clearly did a good job molding Barber into what he was with that hard-nosed relentless coaching approach. At the same time it helped run off the greatest running back in New York Giants history.”
