Woods, Federer And Henry To Endorese Gillette Brand

(l to r) Federer, Henry And Woods Taking
Part In “Gillette Champions” Campaign

Gillette will feature Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Arsenal F Thierry Henry in its “Gillette Champions” marketing campaign, which the brand calls its largest current sports marketing initiative. The campaign is scheduled to roll out in more than 150 markets this year, and the three athletes will appear in worldwide print, online and broadcast ads, consumer promotions, POS materials and PR support (Gillette). While the length and financial terms of the contracts were not disclosed, Boston-based Hill Holliday CEO Mike Sheehan “estimated the deal could total between [$10-20M], depending on the details.” Sheehan: “This is a huge coup. These three men are beyond athletes. They’re brands themselves. And they’re good ambassadors. They’re not just lending their name. They actually work for their brands.” Gillette President of Global Grooming Chip Bergh at a news conference held after the Dubai Desert Classic in the United Arab Emirates, said, “They were chosen not only for their outstanding sporting performances but also for their performances off the field, in their charitable actions, support of social causes, or their reputations as icons of true sporting values.” Woods, Federer and Henry posed for photographers with shaving cream after the press conference (BOSTON GLOBE, 2/5).
