Super Bowl MVP Peyton Manning Won’t Be Going To Disney World

Colts Fans Seek Championship Gear
Shortly After Game’s Conclusion

Colts QB Peyton Manning did not take “the ‘I’m going to Disney World’ endorsement that’s customarily given to the game’s best player,” according to Darren Rovell of CNBC. Manning becomes the “fifth MVP in the 19-year history of the ad not to be featured in the spot.” Colts RB Dominic Rhodes and coach Tony Dungy will represent the Colts at Disney. Rovell said Manning already earns more than $10M a year in endorsements, and now with a Super Bowl victory and MVP award, “he’s even more in-demand.” Manning’s latest deal is with Steiner Sports. Colts OL Jeff Saturday said at the postgame press conference last night, “You might not watch a sporting event without seeing Peyton Manning’s face on some commercials from now on. This right here is going to open up a whole other avenue” (“Morning Call,” 2/5). During a taped interview on CBS’ pregame show, Dan Marino asked Manning, “If you win (the Super Bowl), is it any way humanly possible that you can do more commercials?” Manning, laughing, said, “That’s a hard one to answer” (“The Super Bowl Today,” CBS, 2/4).

GOT MARVIN? Colts WR Marvin Harrison is featured in a full-page Got Milk? ad in USA Today (THE DAILY).

GOT T-SHIRTS? WTHR-NBC’s Min Hee Kim reports that soon after the Colts won last night, local sporting goods stores were “mobbed by fans wanting to buy commemorative, championship apparel.” Area Dick’s Sporting Goods stores are expecting shipments of championship T-shirts “all day” today (WTHR.com, 2/5).
