Nike Leveraging Relationship With Bears’ Urlacher |

With the Super Bowl two days away, Nike is leveraging its relationship with Bears
LB Brian Urlacher with some marketing activity in Chicago. A billboard and a print
ad from Wieden & Kennedy both drop Friday. A full-page ad runs in the Chicago
Sun-Times’ special Super Bowl section. Nike’s outdoor ad is at LaSalle and Grand,
and is a caricature of Urlacher in eyeblack, with the word “Determination” and
a Nike swoosh underneath. Nike will sell a limited amount of "Determined” T-shirts
in Chicago. Nike leveraging Urlacher arguably the Bears’ only player with
nationwide renown somewhat blunts Reebok’s exclusive NFL on-field apparel
rights. Of course, Colts QB Peyton Manning is one of Reebok’s top endorsers.
SIGN HERE: Dreams Inc.’s Mounted Memories division and Steiner Sports have
partnered to sign Manning to a multi-year autograph deal. The companies will manage
and control marketing opportunities for authentic items signed by Manning.
