Green Flag: First Data To Title Sponsor Grand Prix Arizona

California-based e-commerce and payment system First Data Independent Sales Fresno has signed a multi-year, multi-city partnership with the Champ Car World Series Grand Prix Arizona that includes title sponsorship of the Phoenix race for at least three years. This year’s race will be held November 30-December 2. First Data has worked with the event to implement a ticketing system utilizing prepaid Visa cards instead of paper tickets. The prepaid cards will also be available to buy during the event. Also, Earthshift ’07, the “green” portion of the weekend, will be held at Chase Field and will include the only major race to be carbon-neutral through reduced emissions. The cars will use methanol rather than gasoline (First Data). In Phoenix, Monica Alonzo-Dunsmoor reported the weekend is “being billed as the largest ‘green’ festival in the country” (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 1/11).
