Iverson Giving Nuggets
Ticket, Jersey Sales Boost |
The Nuggets have “sold 620 season tickets and more than 1,100 six-game packages”
since trading for G Allen Iverson, while ratings on Altitude Sports & Entertainment
have “jumped significantly,” according to James Paton of the ROCKY
MOUNTAIN NEWS. In the past week, the Nuggets team store at Pepsi Center has sold
1,700 Iverson replica jerseys, including 400 replica No. 3 shirts on New Year’s
Eve alone. Authentic jerseys “haven’t hit the market yet,” but
Jim LaRoche, manager of a local Sportsfan store, said, “We’re blowing
through [the replicas] pretty quickly.” Meanwhile, Paton notes the Nuggets’
average home attendance this season is 16,442, down 4% from 17,135 last year,
but the figure “has risen since Iverson’s arrival.” Attendance
surpassed 18,000 for his debut on December 22 “despite post-blizzard conditions”
(ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS, 1/4). The Nuggets have averaged 17,839 for the
five home games since adding Iverson (THE DAILY).
