ESPN’s averaged a 6.9/ (6,330,000 HHs) for Florida State-Miami on Monday night, making it the network’s most-viewed and second highest-rated college football game ever, behind a 7.7 for Florida State-Miami in ‘94. ESPN offered content of Florida State-Miami across several of its outlets in “Full Circle” coverage on Monday, and ESPN2’s multi-screen coverage averaged a 0.7/ (677,000 HHs). The September 2 debut of ABC’s “Saturday Night Football” featuring Notre Dame-Georgia Tech averaged a 5.4/ (6,067,000 HHs), marking the night’s most-viewed and highest-rated program, including across the male 18-34 (a 4.3 rating), 18-49 (a 4.3 rating) and 25-54 (a 4.5 rating) demos. The telecast was also the highest-rated primetime program of the week among men 18-49 and men 25-54. The network also won the night in adults 18-49 (ESPN).

WNBA: Game Four of the Shock-Monarchs WNBA Finals earned a 0.68, translating into 793,000 viewers, on ESPN2, marking the second highest-rated WNBA game in ESPN2 history, behind the 0.81 for the decisive Game Three of the ‘03 Sparks-Shock Finals. Through four games, the WNBA Finals on ESPN2 is averaging a 0.43, up 8% versus a 0.40 for the entire four-game WNBA Finals on ESPN2 last year (THE DAILY).

WEEK IN CABLE: TNT won primetime for the week ending September 3 with a 2.6/ (2,390,000 HHs), followed by ESPN (2.2/ 2,070,000 HHs), Disney (2.2/ 1,970,000 HHs), MTV and Lifetime. USA Network fell to 7th “primarily because U.S. Open tennis coverage preempted its popular” WWE telecast on August 28 (CABLEFAX DAILY, 9/7).
