Breeders’ Cup & NTRA Making Personnel, Administrative Cuts
The Breeders’ Cup and NTRA are “trimming [their joint operations’] personnel and
administrative costs” by 40%, according to Gregory Hall of the Louisville COURIER-JOURNAL.
NTRA Senior VP/Marketing & Industry Relations Keith Chamblin said that the groups’
employees will drop from 67 to 42 by year’s end and the future of its N.Y. offices
“is in question.” Hall noted the cuts will eliminate “some or all of the management
and staff positions in administration, finance, information technology, nominations,
event operations, legislative and product development,” while some functions like
graphic arts, licensing and merchandising and simulcasting will be outsourced.
NTRA & Breeders’ Cup interim CEO Greg Avioli said, “This right-sizing is the first
step in a phased plan to place additional focus and resources on core strategic
priorities” (Louisville
COURIER-JOURNAL, 7/8).
