Licensing Notes: Everlast To Produce “Rocky”-branded Items

With the Licensing ’06 Int’l Show taking place in N.Y. this week, THE DAILY offers a round-up of some of the deals that have been announced:

AT THE SHOW: The World Poker Tour (Brandgenuity) received the ’06 Int’l Licensing Excellence Award for Best Sports Brand License, while Digital Blue for Tony Hawk was named Best Sports Brand Licensee (LICENSINGMAG.com, 6/22)....Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) provided live broadcasts of FIFA World Cup games at the Licensing Bistro during the conference. WBCP is the licensing rep for the ’06 World Cup, Serie A team AC Milan, Euro ’08 and the Mexican national team (LICENSINGMAG.com, 6/21).

SIGNING UP: Everlast Worldwide has signed a deal with MGM Consumer Products to produce co-branded Everlast/Rocky sporting goods, including youth boxing equipment, heavy bags and inflatables. The line is set to debut in October to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the release of “Rocky” (Everlast)....Mattel is partnering with adidas on a collection of Hot Wheels and Fisher-Price co-branded footwear. The company also inked a deal with HEAD/Penn for a series of Barbie tennis racquets, bags and balls (Mattel)....Under Armour has signed a six-year deal with Eyeking to produce branded sunglasses and football-helmet visors. The sunglasses are set to debut next spring (BRANDWEEK, 6/19 issue)....The Amaury Sport Organisation has chosen Moda, N.Y., as the official licensing agent of the Tour de France brand in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Brazil. The plans include extending the brand to bikes, helmets, bike accessories and equipment, apparel, food and games, among other categories (BRANDWEEK, 6/19 issue).

OUTWARD BOUND: Outward Bound has signed IMG to create and implement sponsorship and licensing programs for the organization with companies in different products areas. IMG will initially pursue deals in the automotive, beverage, energy/nutrition, travel, consumer electronics, Internet/ISP, wireless, camera/digital, retail, fitness and personal care categories. IMG will also explore programs in the apparel, accessories, footwear, outdoor gear, food and publishing/media areas (Outward Bound).
