Champagne? No, chocolate to celebrate Yankees, Stubhub deal

The Yankees’ legal battle in Bronx County, N.Y., against online ticket resale marketplace StubHub, as is often the case in situations such as this, was full of contentious feelings, mutual mudslinging and pointed arguments.

But once the parties reached a settlement yesterday after an all-day session of closed-door negotiations, Judge Lizbeth Gonzalez brought lawyers for both sides up to the bench to share in some gourmet chocolates she had brought. And for at least a few minutes, there was nothing but good feelings between the parties.

The candy sharing capped a day for Gonzalez in which she eschewed many of the typical mannerisms of a judge, as she on several occasions emerged from chambers to update the waiting press and interested onlookers on projected timetables. "I was brought up right," she offered.

See today’s SportsBusiness Daily for full coverage of the hearing and settlement.
