BDA partners with Falcons, MLS team

Bensussen Deutch & Associates (BDA) reached a five-year preferred partnership with the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC. BDA will develop and execute campaigns to drive sponsorship value and fan engagements through licensed merchandise.

IMSA to make pit stop at Mid-Ohio

Circuit of the Americas will lose an event in 2018, according to an Austin American-Statesman report. The IMSA Continental Tire Challenge will stop at the Mid-Ohio road course in Lexington, Ohio, May 4-6. The IMSA series had been a regular on the first weekend of May at COTA.

CHARLOTTE
Major catering to European fans

U.K. golf fans for the first time will have access across multiple viewing platforms to the PGA Championship through the BBC’s live coverage of the Aug. 10-13 event in Charlotte. There also will be additional digital platforms with live streaming on Twitter and Give Me Sport’s Facebook page.

Bears align with Fanatics

Fanatics reached a multiyear deal with the Chicago Bears to operate the club’s e-commerce platform. The team’s e-commerce operations were previously run by Delaware North. The Bears become the 20th NFL club to align with Fanatics. The company also runs e-commerce for the NFL at the league level.

Dinner is served at Oregon State

Oregon State Athletics reached a heightened, multiyear partnership with Safeway/Albertsons in advance of the 2017-18 academic year. Safeway/Albertsons will be the official grocer of OSU athletics. The grocer will back a new initiative called Veteran of the Game in which one veteran will be honored during each home football game.

Shrimp pillows win MiLB award

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp’s Neck Pillow Giveaway, presented by JAXSPORTS Council, was selected as Minor League Baseball’s promotion of the month for June. The team will be an automatic finalist for a Golden Bobblehead Award at the annual Minor League Baseball Promotional Seminar on Sept. 28.

Knights tickets going on sale

Single-game tickets for the Vegas Golden Knights will go on sale at 5 p.m. ET on Aug. 14, according to a Las Vegas Review-Journal report. They can only be purchased online through vegasgoldenknights.com and prices begin at $65 per ticket, with a limit of four tickets per game. The new NHL team will play home games at T-Mobile Arena.

Creighton seeks more funds

Creighton University plans to add suites, coaches offices and additional lounge space on Morrison Stadium’s second level, according to an Omaha World-Herald report. The project is set to begin after the 2017 soccer season. The project’s total cost remained undisclosed, but Creighton is asking for $400,000 more in private donations.

Sixers add ‘Club 76’ waitlist
The Philadelphia 76ers, who have sold out their inventory of about 14,000 season tickets, established a waitlist for which fans must pay a fee to join in a priority position. The tiered program is being marketed as “Club 76.” For $76 a year, fans receive a “priority” rank, access to a single-game presale and two T-shirts. For $176, extra perks include access to single-game playoff tickets and two hats. The program also has a free option with fewer perks.

Eagles expanding green program
The Philadelphia Eagles are teaming up with Waste Masters Solutions on a new initiative to minimize food waste at Lincoln Financial Field. The expansion of the team’s “Go Green program” will provide for a food waste digester and an associated data analytics platform. Waste Masters will work with BioHiTech Global on the design, construction and operation of the digester.

ASU, Ticketmaster reach new deal

Arizona State University reached a new multiyear agreement with Ticketmaster. As part of the deal, ASU will become an early adopter of Ticketmaster’s redesigned AccountManager tool.

Jays’ ticket cost going up again

The Toronto Blue Jays are informing season-ticket holders that prices will rise by up to 17 percent next season, the fourth straight year of increases, according to a Sportsnet.ca report. The team is leading the American League with an average crowd of 39,867 through 50 home dates despite being under .500.

Nosebleed seats in the 500 level of Rogers Centre could see increases of 8 percent.

Verizon Center calls for solar energy

Monumental Sports & Entertainment reached a new partnership with Virginia-based WGL Energy Services that will enable Verizon Center to operate using 25 percent solar energy. Monumental will purchase solar electricity from a third-party-owned solar facility in Frederick County, Md., and receive about 4.7 million kWh per year of energy beginning in late 2017 as part of a long-term contract.

Thohir to stay with D.C. United
D.C. United general partner Erick Thohir is seeking additional partners but has no plans to sell his majority stake in the team, according to a Washington Post report. Thohir denied a New York Times story that, citing anonymous sources, said he and managing general partner Jason Levien are weighing a sale of the franchise.

Arsenal extends BNN tech deal

Arsenal FC extended its partnership with China-based technology provider BNN Technology through the 2019-20 season. The deal offers BNN exclusive rights including the opportunity to build on its “Coaching the Coaches” program, which was met with huge interest when launched last season.

‘Ladies’ no more for Arsenal
Women’s Super League side Arsenal dropped “Ladies” from its name and became Arsenal Women, according to a BBC report. The club will be known as Arsenal, and will use the “Women” title only when official clarity is needed. Arsenal is the fourth top-tier side to carry the “Women” name, with six teams using the “Ladies” moniker.

QNET, Manchester reach 2020 deal

Prominent Asian direct selling company QNET extended its partnership with Manchester City for three more years. The partnership extension sees QNET remain the official direct selling partner of the club until 2020.

MOGYOROD, HUNGARY
Champagne showers for Formula 1

French Champagne, rather than sparkling wine, will again be sprayed on the Formula One podium after Carbon was announced as the sport’s new official supplier at the Hungarian Grand Prix, according to a Reuters report. The bottles presented to the top-three drivers will have markers — gold, silver and bronze.

Pilsen is known as the Czech capital of beer, which gave the world the golden “pilsner” lager in 1842.

Players rest in giant beer can

Czech side Viktoria Plzen unveiled new novelty dugouts in the shape of giant beer cans at Doosan Arena. The 14-seat shelters, a result of a partnership with nearby brewery Gambrinus, now offer players and staff warmed leather seats. The benches required two tons of metal and 300 square meters of aluminum.
