An august foursome

The commissioners of four major U.S. sports gathered at the Paley Center in Manhattan last Thursday, marking the first time the NHL’s Gary Bettman, the NFL’s Roger Goodell, MLB’s Rob Manfred and the NBA’s Adam Silver had shared a stage together. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav moderated the panel. The panel brought out bold-faced names in sports business, including New York Knicks and Rangers owner James Dolan, who sat in the front row; Turner President David Levy; and MLBAM President of Business and Media Bob Bowman.

Legacy Project puts a shine on youth diamond

An All-Star Legacy Project dedication for a refurbished youth baseball field at José Martí Park, part of a raft of activities around the MLB All-Star Game in Miami on July 11, drew attendees including Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred, Marlins President David Samson, hall of famers Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Pérez, former Marlins Edgar Rentería and Benito Santiago, Miami Mayor Tomás Regalado and hall of famer Roberto Clemente’s widow Vera Clemente and sons Roberto Clemente Jr. and Luis Clemente.
