Fenway Sports Management, American International Group, the Gaelic Players Association, the Gaelic Athletic Association and the city of Boston held a kickoff event June 27 at Fenway Park to announce the return of hurling for a doubleheader Nov. 19: Dublin hurler Gary Maguire, Boston Red Sox President Sam Kennedy, FSM Managing Director Mark Lev, U.S. GAA Vice Chair Bernie Connaughton, Clare hurler Bobby Duggan, AIG Boston Managing Director Tom Allen, GPA CEO Dermot Earley, Galway hurler Johnny Glynn and Tipperary hurler Daire Quinn.
