Forty Under 40

Forty Under 40: What’s your favorite vacation spot?

We asked each of the Forty Under 40:

What’s your favorite vacation spot?

Seth Bacon: There’s no better place than Maine in the summer. It’s the way life should be.

Derek Belch: My annual golf trip with a group of 10 guys. We’ve been doing it for 10 years, and it bounces around to a different location every year. The competitiveness and camaraderie and getting away from work for a few days is always a treat.

Ilan Ben-Hanan: Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil. It’s the most beautiful and awe-inspiring place I have seen on the planet.

Jimmy Bruns: Any mountain cabin because I love how insignificant it can make you feel.

Lisa Campos: Anywhere by the ocean because I love the serenity. There is nothing better than walking on the beach or reading a book while listening to the sounds of the ocean.

Daniel Cherry III: Jamaica. It makes my wife the happiest being connected to her home country.

Jason Cohen: On safari, back to the basics, limited cellphone coverage.

Sakiya Daniel: Anywhere warm and tropical with my family.

Will Dean: Tarifa, Spain. Great kitesurfing and nightlife.

Rob DeAngelis: Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Ridiculously beautiful place, great memories there with my wife, and you get to quote “Shawshank Redemption” the whole time you’re there.

Bill Fagan: San Diego because of the amazing climate and culture.

Cole Gahagan: Anywhere in the Rocky Mountains, any time of the year.

Rocky Harris: Anywhere with a beach and no cell service because it allows me to disconnect from the day-to-day grind.

Jeff Ianello: Santa Barbara.

Martin Jarmond: Anywhere where I can’t get cell service.

Katherine Johnson: South Africa, beautiful and unusual in the same place.

Nick Kelly: Outer Banks, totally disconnected.

Elena Klau: Hawaii (the Big Island). I love returning to my Polynesian roots, and there is no spot as beautiful as Hawaii and its beaches.

Telluride, Colo.

Brandon Lloyd: Telluride, Colo. It’s where I proposed to my wife, and summer or winter, there is so much to enjoy outside.

J.B. Lockhart: The South Island of New Zealand.

Los Roques, Venezuela

Olek Loewenstein: Los Roques in Venezuela. It’s beautiful and brings back good memories.

Matthew Nussbaum: Any spot with a great beach where my wife and I can unwind and have a blast with our girls.

David Oxfeld: Paris. Grew up going there with my family and try to go yearly with my wife. So much to see and do, and great food.

Dan Parise: Turks and Caicos. Beautiful and it’s a direct flight from NYC.

Anthony Perez: Greece. My wife is Greek. We went for three weeks with her family, saw where her family was from, met some family still in Greece, and enjoyed incredible food along the way!

Ashwin Puri: Honeymoon Beach, Water Island (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands). My wife and I visited this beach twice, once on our honeymoon and then again during a trip with her family. It is quite possibly the most perfect beach in the world, out of the way, quiet and beautiful.

Alex Radetsky: Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos. Went there on our honeymoon and three times since.

Vieques, Puerto Rico

Ann Rodriguez: Vieques, Puerto Rico. It’s an island off the coast of Puerto Rico, where my grandmother grew up. It has beautiful beaches and is very relaxing.

Bali, Indonesia

Jeffrey Roth: Bali. Went there for honeymoon; great mix of relaxing resorts/beaches, outdoor activities, and historic sites.

Connor Schell: Anywhere that I can take a nap.

Brandon Schneider: The Four Seasons at Hualalai (Kona). We are always moving a million miles an hour, so I love to go somewhere to just relax with my wife (and now my son too). There is no more beautiful place in the world … with great restaurants too!

Vishal Shah: Upstate New York: great lakes and outdoor activities, salt-of-the-earth residents, and ability to spend time with family.

Gretchen Sheirr: Cozumel, Mexico, is my happy place. I love relaxing on the beach with my family.

Tobias Sherman: Anywhere I can snowboard with my family.

Justin Toman: Key West; it has a chill vibe.

Jeremy Walls: Hawaii — Kailua Beach and North Shore, Oahu. My wife’s family is from there and we visit often.

Danny White: An under-the-radar beach in an under-developed part of the beautiful Florida Atlantic coast, where the waves are small enough that I can actually surf them.

Chip Wile: Peter Island, because your phone doesn’t work there and it is as close to heaven as you will get on earth.

Mike Zabik: Paris. My best travel memories with my wife are there. Food, wine, art. Such a beautiful city.

Tim Zue: The Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Harwich, Mass. (Cape Cod). My wife and I got married there in 2008, and we try to return at least once every year. The minute I walk on the property I can feel stress leaving my body as they do a tremendous job creating an environment of serenity and relaxation.
