ATLANTA
Braves ID some SRO areas at ballpark

The Atlanta Braves identified areas in SunTrust Park where they plan to sell standing-room-only tickets for the first two regular-season games, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report. More than 1,000 tickets per game will reportedly go on sale April 10 at a price of $20 each.

County OKs remaining ballpark bills
Cobb County commissioners said the county remains on the hook for $11.8 million of its $14 million obligation for transportation and infrastructure improvements around SunTrust Park, according to a Marietta Daily Journal report. The list of remaining projects includes public roads, sidewalks and utility construction.

AUSTIN, TEXAS
D-League team extends with VirtuCrypt

The Austin Spurs reached a partnership extension with VirtuCrypt, a provider of cloud security services. VirtuCrypt’s logo will now be visible on the back of the home and road Austin Spurs jerseys above the numbers, as well as on the back of the shooting shirts.

CHICAGO
Sox sign multiyear Modelo deal

The Chicago White Sox agreed to a three-year, seven-figure deal with Modelo Especial, now the official import beer of the team. The club ended its longtime partnership with Miller Brewing. A new bar, Casa Modelo, will open in the left-field concourse this season.

Among the new offerings is a waffle cone stuffed with mashed potatoes and fried chicken and drizzled with honey mustard.
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS
Hooks sign Aramark, Nolan Ryan Beef

The Corpus Christi Hooks reached a multiyear agreement with Aramark to provide concession services at Whataburger Field. Also, the Class AA Astros affiliate entered a three-year deal with Nolan Ryan Beef, which is expanding its hot dog, sausage, beef and jerky offerings at the ballpark as official beef of the Hooks.

DAYTON, OHIO
Air Force members attend NCAA games

Thousands of airmen stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base were among fans at the NCAA First Four thanks to donated tickets via the Big Hoopla program, according to a Dayton Daily News report. Thirty-two airmen from the base unfurled the American flag while another sang the national anthem on both game days.

DETROIT
City groups win ‘Green Space’ contest

Project EverGreen, in partnership with Exmark Manufacturing, the Sports Turf Managers Association and The Foundation for Safer Athletic Fields for Everyone, awarded In Memory of Community Garden and the Warrendale Community Organization in Detroit the winners of the inaugural Our Winning Green Space contest. Prizes included an Exmark Lazer Z X-Series mower package and a “Healthy Turf. Healthy Kids.” renovation project for the city.

SeaWolves set #AlternativeFacts Night

The Eastern League Erie SeaWolves are planning an #AlternativeFacts Night at UPMC Park on Aug. 25, according to a Detroit News report. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a 2016 championship ring, even though the Class AA Tigers affiliate finished in fourth place in its division last season.

FOXBORO, MASS.
Stadium project includes bar, canopies

Upgrades to the upper-level concourse of Gillette Stadium have begun, according to a Boston Globe report. The upgrades will include a full-service bar with a roof canopy. A covered space also will be available at the landing for each of the four corners of the stadium. Large garage-style doors will be open or closed depending on the weather.

KANSAS CITY
Royals welcome Golden Arches

McDonald’s Heart of America Co-op is becoming an official sponsor of the Kansas City Royals. As part of the four-year deal, McDonald’s will introduce a seasonlong #McDoublePlay promotion. Every time the Royals turn a double play, the McDouble sandwich will cost $1 the following day. And for every Royals McDouble Value Meal sold, 25 cents will be donated to the Ronald McDonald’s House Charities of Kansas City.

ECHL team drops ‘Missouri’
The Missouri Mavericks will change their name to the Kansas City Mavericks at the close of this season. Team owner Lamar Hunt Jr. said the new name reflects the team’s fan base and focus on the entire metropolitan area. The ECHL team plays at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence, Mo., east of downtown Kansas City.

LOS ANGELES
StubHub Center partners with AstroTurf

AstroTurf will become an official partner of StubHub Center and the preferred vendor for all future synthetic turf projects. Additionally, AstroTurf’s DT23 System will replace the existing crumb rubber synthetic field of StubHub Center’s Field 7, which is used to host various clinics.

MEMPHIS
Rendezvous supplying ballpark barbecue

The Memphis Redbirds are bringing in Rendezvous as the official barbecue supplier of AutoZone Park as part of a multiyear agreement. Rendezvous has been a part of Memphis’ world-renowned barbecue culture since its founding by the Vergos family in 1948. The Redbirds are the Class AAA affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.

PHILADELPHIA
Sunoco deal benefits Union fans

The Philadelphia Union signed a multiyear partnership agreement with Sunoco that includes a way for soccer fans to save money on gas. Union fans that shop at Acme Markets can earn up to $1 off per gallon at Sunoco gas stations by signing up for the a rewards program through the Acme Markets mobile app. Fans also can save on gas by attending matches at Talen Energy Stadium.

Toyota, Union extend partnership
The Union extended its partnership with Tri-State Toyota Dealers. Toyota will continue as the official and exclusive automobile partner of the team and will continue to have a presence at Talen Energy Stadium. A Union-themed Toyota Sequoia will serve as the official promotional vehicle of the Union.

New beer partners join Ale House
The Union opened The Union Ale House at Talen Energy Stadium with six new partners: Yards, Modelo, Victory, Heineken, Sterling Pig and Yuengling. Additional elements of the partnership include in-stadium marketing and branding at concession stands.

Sixers reward fans via Uber deal

The Philadelphia 76ers entered into a deal with Uber to serve as the team’s exclusive ride-share partner. The partnership began March 4 with Uber’s first “Curb-to-Court” promotion, where six winning Uber passengers were driven directly to the 76ers player entrance and received a VIP backstage escort to the court. Winners also received upgraded seating, a postgame photo opportunity and a gift bag.

Flyers partner with goPuff delivery
Philadelphia-based on-demand delivery service goPuff and the Philadelphia Flyers formed a partnership for a new initiative called “Gameday On-Demand.” The service offers fans watching at home the ability to get snacks, beverages, party supplies and household items delivered in 30 minutes or less.

PITTSBURGH
Pirates contest rewards pets, parents

The Pittsburgh Pirates partnered with Ainsworth Pet Nutrition, manufacturer of the Rachael Ray Nutrish line of premium pet food, on a digital sweepstakes to recognize shelter pets and their adoptive parents. The sweepstakes runs through April 5. As the presenting partner of Pittsburgh Pirates Pup Nights, Rachael Ray Nutrish will host 13 of the events throughout the 2017 season at PNC Park.

Fitness leaders to meet with Congress

The 18th annual National Health Through Fitness Day will be held Wednesday on Capitol Hill. The Sports & Fitness Industry Association and industry professionals will meet with members of Congress to discuss the importance of the Personal Health Investment Today Act.

Monumental puts 15SOF in arena
15 Seconds of Fame reached a partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment that will provide Capitals, Wizards, Mystics and Valor fans at Verizon Center access to 15SOF’s first-mover technology and social media platform. Fans can download the app, take a selfie to register, and then receive and personalize video clips that appear on Verizon Center’s scoreboard during games.
