International Speedway Corp.’s One Daytona project has landed a new tenant in Florida-based arcade chain GameTime, the latest in a flurry of agreements for the long-awaited mixed-use development.

The deal, whose financial terms could not be learned, will be announced this week. One Daytona is the 300,000-square-foot retail, dining and entertainment district that is scheduled to open next year across from Daytona International Speedway. The development, which could cost as much as $150 million, has been in the works for the better part of a decade.

GameTime, which has seven other locations in Florida, will open a 35,000-square-foot entertainment center on One Daytona’s main thoroughfare, Daytona Boulevard. On top of more than 100 arcade games, prize machines and ride simulators, the venue will have more than 60 flat-screen TVs, 12 bowling lanes, a liquor bar and full-service restaurant.

ISC believes GameTime will bring a family-friendly atmosphere.

“It’s a partner that we believe strongly is going to add an entertainment element to One Daytona that will create not only excitement but continue that family-oriented theme” said Jeff Boerger, ISC’s vice president of corporate development.

GameTime marks another company whose first location in Daytona Beach will be at One Daytona — an important point for Boerger, who said bringing in “first-to-market” companies is a cornerstone of the public/private partnership that ISC reached with the city for the project. GameTime joins a spate of other tenants announced this year, including P.F. Chang’s, Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ, MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza Company, Kilwins and Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery.

Kansas City-based asset-management firm Legacy Development is handling leasing efforts for One Daytona.
“We are very bullish and very excited about the progress we’ve made,” Boerger said. “This has been [ISC Chief Executive Officer] Lesa France Kennedy’s vision and she’s been involved since day one, so we’re not looking back; we’re moving forward.”

One Daytona’s first opening will occur next month with the 12-screen Cobb Theatre. Construction also has begun on a 67,000-square-foot Bass Pro Shops and 105-room Fairfield Inn & Suites. There are also plans for a 145-room Marriott Autograph Collection hotel branded as The Daytona, a 276-unit luxury apartment complex and other tenants including Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Venetian Nail Spa, Sunglass World and Guitar Center.

Boerger said that 70 percent of infrastructure building has been completed, and he expects the entire 70-acre first phase of One Daytona will be completed by its scheduled opening of fall 2017.
