Golden volunteers

Don and Karen Whamond of Rye Brook, N.Y., celebrated their 50th consecutive year of volunteering together at the 50th playing of The Barclays at Bethpage State Park (Black Course) Aug. 25-28. The 1,800 volunteers who worked at The Barclays sought votes to support tournament charities as participants in the PGA Tour Volunteer Challenge.

Dinner fit for a fan

The Seattle Seahawks and American Express kicked off the second year of their partnership by hosting a few hundred fans for American Express Dinner on the 50, a unique dining experience that took place on CenturyLink Field’s 50-yard line. The sold-out event was an exclusive experience for American Express card members, and proceeds were donated to the Seattle chapter of the YMCA. The four-course meal also included a fan Q&A with Seahawks players and performances by the Seahawks’ Sea Gals and Blue Thunder drumline.
