Goodyear renews with half marathon

Goodyear signed a three-year agreement to return as presenting sponsor for the Akron Children’s Hospital Akron Marathon Race Series Half Marathon & 10K. It was presenting sponsor for last year’s inaugural sold-out event. The Aug. 13 races will start and finish at the company’s global headquarters.

BUFFALO
Name change coming for Sabres’ arena

The pending acquisition by Cleveland-based KeyCorp of First Niagara Financial Group Inc. will trigger another name change to the home of the Buffalo Sabres. The downtown Buffalo arena now known has First Niagara Center will next be known as KeyBank Center. It’s previously been known as HSBC Arena and Marine Midland Arena. The sale of First Niagara to KeyCorp is expected to be completed by the fall.

CANTON, OHIO

Halls of fame reach deal

The Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Black College Football Hall of Fame reached a deal that provides the latter with a permanent home as part of the new Hall of Fame Village, a $500 million development of the Pro Football Hall of Fame campus. The two organizations will work together on programs and events, as well.

CINCINNATI
UC signs arena renovation firms

Skanska and Megen Construction signed with the University of Cincinnati to manage the renovation of Fifth Third Arena. Renovations to the 26-year-old building will create a 360-degree seating bowl with a capacity of 11,500. Construction is slated to begin next month and be completed by November 2018.

DENVER
Broncos take stand on venue name

The Denver Broncos in a bankruptcy court filing said The Sports Authority can’t sell or transfer its Mile High Stadium naming rights or its team sponsorship without written consent, according to a Denver Post report. The team raised its objection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware on May 13.

FORT WASHINGTON, MD.
Stronach to buy Rosecroft Raceway

The Stronach Group agreed to purchase Rosecroft Raceway, adding to a collection of Maryland tracks that includes Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park, according to a Baltimore Sun report. Current owner Penn National Gaming bought the track at a bankruptcy auction in 2011 for $10.25 million.

Table tennis finale gets title sponsor

Computer server manufacturer Supermicro Computer acquired title rights to this year’s USA Table Tennis National Championships. The event is scheduled for July 4-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

LOS ANGELES
Dodgers feature 50/50 raffle games

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation is holding 50/50 raffles at Dodger Stadium this season. Raffle tickets are being sold throughout the stadium at each home game. Half of each night’s raffle goes to the foundation, supporting its programs and benefiting youth organizations throughout Los Angeles. Tickets are three for $5, 10 for $10 and 40 for $20.

A’s app streamlines mobile ticketing

Oakland A’s fans now can purchase tickets through the team’s MLB.com Ballpark app. The “quick pick” flow features club curated price scales, seat views and real-time inventory.

PHILADELPHIA
Sixers adding StubHub patch to jersey

The Philadelphia 76ers signed the NBA’s first jersey patch advertising deal, a three-year agreement with StubHub. The patch will appear on jerseys for the start of the 2017-18 season, when Nike replaces Adidas with NBA uniform rights.

PITTSBURGH
Pirates add six partners

The Pittsburgh Pirates have six new partners for the 2016 season. Three of the additions are Pittsburgh-based businesses: Don’s Appliances, the National Slovak Society Life Insurance Co. and Kennywood Amusement Park. Sandwich chain Jimmy John’s, Nexen Tire and the Penn State World Campus also have signed on.

PORTLAND

License plates get Blazers treatment
Oregon drivers can purchase a Portland Trail Blazers license plate at their local DMV office beginning in September. Created through the passage of Oregon House Bill 2730 and signed into law by Gov. Kate Brown, the license plate is the first for an Oregon professional sports team. The Trail Blazers Foundation will benefit from the plate’s $40 surcharge.

Tim Hortons brewing with IndyCar

Tim Hortons is joining Honda Indy Toronto as an official sponsor. Tim Hortons will serve as the official coffee and baked goods provider at the July 15-17 event, delivering coffee to event-goers and team personnel. It also will receive branding opportunities along the race’s street course.

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.
The Glen fills in for Boston cancellation

IndyCar will return to Watkins Glen International this Labor Day weekend. The IndyCar Grand Prix at The Glen was added to the 16-race IndyCar schedule as a replacement for the canceled Grand Prix of Boston. IndyCar last ran at The Glen in 2010.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.VA.
Classic shifts to free admission
The PGA Tour Greenbrier Classic this year will, for the first time, be free and open to the public, but there will be no concerts at the July event, according to a Charleston Gazette-Mail report. In prior years, grounds passes for the week had started at $80 and included tickets to the concerts that the resort put on in conjunction with the tournament.

Team eyes new ground west of city

Scottish Premiership club Aberdeen unveiled plans for a $58 million stadium and training facility west of the city, according to an STV report. The proposal centers on moving the club 8 miles, from Pittodrie to Kingsford.

UFC event draws big crowd

UFC 198 drew 45,207 fans to Arena da Baixada on May 14, making it the third most-attended event in UFC history and setting an all-time mark for attendance at the venue. Stipe Miocic defeated Fabricio Werdum to obtain the heavyweight championship.

DOHA, QATAR
Barça to play Saudi club in friendly

FC Barcelona will play a friendly on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, against Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli. The game is part of the sponsorship agreement the club has with Qatar Sports Investment and Qatar Airways.

Commonwealth Games picks ticketer

Ticketek Australia was named the official ticket agent to provide ticketing technology and marketing services for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

U.K. online casino company 32Red will be the new official shirt sponsor of Championship side Leeds United. The deal will see the 32Red logo on the front of Leeds’ playing kit for the next three seasons, starting in July.

MANCHESTER
Red Devils post record revenue

Manchester United posted record third-quarter revenue of $177 million despite its continued inconsistency on the pitch, according to a BBC report. The Premier League club reported that total revenue rose by almost 30 percent in the three months ending March 31.
