Scotts renews deal with MLB

Scotts renewed its MLB sponsorship rights in what sources said was a three-year deal.

Scotts will continue to sponsor MLB’s grassroots Pitch, Hit and Run youth skills competition, moving from presenting sponsor to title sponsor. Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer, a finalist in Pitch, Hit and Run as an 8-year-old, will be a spokesman for the program. The brand will back six ballfield refurbishments, with Cal Ripken serving as Scotts’ ambassador there.

Scotts remains the official lawn care company of MLB, and it will push its Miracle-Gro, Ortho and Scotts brands with media buys on MLB.com, MLB Network and other MLB rights holders. Supporting MLB club deals have been scaled back to five: the Braves, Red Sox, Reds, Rockies and Padres, a new addition.

Wasserman is Scotts’ longtime sports agency of record.
