Baseball
The Boston Red Sox hired Dave Dombrowski as president of baseball operations. General manager Ben Cherington stepped down from his position but will assist Dombrowski during the transition.

Basketball
The Los Angeles Lakers promoted Ryan West to director of player personnel.

The Milwaukee Bucks hired Alicia Dupies as vice president of community relations and managing director of the new Bucks Foundation, and named John Steinmiller executive vice president of operations.

Colleges
The University of Virginia promoted Todd Goodale to senior associate athletic director for external affairs, Steve Pritzker to senior associate athletic director for business operations and chief financial officer, Valerie Richardson to senior associate athletic director for programs, Adrien Harraway to associate athletic director for student services and Kelli Pugh to assistant athletic director for sports medicine.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Foundation hired Jim Harris as executive director. Harris was senior associate athletic director and associate vice president for development at the University of South Florida.

Virginia Military Institute hired Tony Hermane coordinator of athletic multimedia. Hermane was with Storied Rivals Sports Media.

California State University, Bakersfield named Kenneth “Ziggy” Siegfried athletic director. Siegfried has been interim athletic director since July 2014 and was senior associate athletic director for external relations.

California State University, Northridge hired Daniel Spiegel as associate athletic director of development. Spiegel was assistant athletic director for marketing and promotions at Columbia University.

Eastern Kentucky University promoted Kevin Britton to assistant athletic director for communications and branding.

Fayetteville State University named Anthony Bennett athletic director. Bennett was associate athletic director at Winston-Salem State University.

Lock Haven University named Tom Gioglio athletic director. Gioglio was athletic director at East Stroudsburg University.

St. Bonaventure University named Tristan Mulcahy director of athletics advancement.

Troy University named Jeremy McClain athletic director. McClain was deputy athletic director at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Michigan State University promoted Shelley Appelbaum to executive associate athletic director for student athletes; Jim Pignataro to executive associate athletic director for resource allocation; Paul Schager to executive associate athletic director for events; Chuck Sleeper to executive associate athletic director for revenue; Peggy Brown to senior associate athletic director for business operations; Alan Haller to senior associate athletic director for administration and executive director of the Varsity “S” Club; Jen Smith to senior associate athletic director for compliance services; Rick Atkinson to associate athletic director for event management; Scot Schlesinger to associate athletic director for corporate relationships; Mark Schoenl to associate athletic director for major gifts for the Spartan Fund; Tim Allen to assistant athletic director for football operations; Josh Morton to assistant athletic director for the Spartan Fund; Kevin Pauga to assistant athletic director for administration; and Megan Vanderveen to assistant athletic director for human resources.

The University of Akron named Larry Williams athletic director. Williams was with Equity Management Inc. and was formerly vice president and athletic director at Marquette University.

The University of Missouri hired Brian White as senior associate athletic director for development. White was associate athletic director for development at Army.

The University of Massachusetts hired Alan Pandiani as associate athletic director for sales and fan experience. Pandiani was manager of client partner development for the Aspire Group.

The University of Pittsburgh hired Matt Plizga as assistant athletic director for media relations. Plizga was senior associate sports information director at Duke University.

The University of Rhode Island added the title of senior woman administrator to associate athletic director Gina Sperry’s title and named Trish Casey associate athletic director for business and personnel.

The University of Wisconsin named Jackie Davenport community relations director.

Winston-Salem State University hired Randy Butt as associate athletic director for business and finance. Butt was executive associate athletic director at Radford University.

Morehead State University hired Nick Evans as athletic media relations director.

The University of Massachusetts hired Ryan Boudway assistant athletic director for development. Boudway was associate director of premium seating and parking at the University of Notre Dame.

KELLEHER
International Speedway Corp. promoted Frank Kelleher to managing director and vice president of sales and marketing, TR Stape to managing director of partnership sales and Josh Meek to manager of marketing insights and analysis.

Oilers Entertainment Group named Susan Darrington vice president and general manager for Rogers Place. Darrington was general manager for AEG Worldwide’s Allianz Parque in São Paulo.

SMG hired Jason Gibson as director of event services for Intrust Bank Arena. Gibson was general manager for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Football
The NFL and the NFL Players Association named James Thrash an appeals officer for on-field player discipline.

The Cincinnati Bengals promoted Brian Sells to vice president and chief marketing officer.

Marketing
Learfield Sports named Chris Lahey general manager and Catrina Torres manager of business development at New Mexico State. Lahey was associate athletic director for external operations at Saint Leo University, and Torres was a marketing and client service specialist for Reel FX Creative Studios.

Soccer
The United Soccer League’s FC Cincinnati hired Jeff Berding as president and general manager. Berding was director of sales and public relations for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Sporting Goods and Apparel
Boathouse Sports hired Jay Caddle as director of e-commerce and integrated marketing and Gail Sacharczuk as director of product development and merchandising.

Awards and Boards
The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security named Paul Denton, chief of the Ohio State University police division, and Paul Turner, director of event operations and security for the Dallas Cowboys and AT&T Stadium, recipients of the Distinguished Leadership Award.
