Delta naming Braves’ new club

The Atlanta Braves and Delta Air Lines agreed to a partnership beginning in 2017 for SunTrust Park. Delta will be the exclusive sponsor of the Delta Sky360 Club, a new premium hospitality area. In addition to game-day activations, Delta will have a presence in the ballpark’s surrounding mixed-use development.

BOSTON
BC, UA sign 10-year extension

Under Armour will continue to outfit Boston College athletics in a 10-year extension of their partnership. In addition to outfitting the Eagles’ athletic department, the partnership calls for integration into the brand’s marketing, social media, in-store and grassroots activations.

BUFFALO
Bisons accepting loonies, dollars

The Buffalo Bisons will accept Canadian cash “at par” throughout Coca-Cola Field during all April home games and for individual game tickets through the 2015 season. The value of the Canadian dollar has slid to approximately 80 cents against the U.S. dollar. The Bisons are the Class AAA affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Dodgers rebranded station debuts

iHeartMedia Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Dodgers last week debuted AM 570 LA Sports, the station formerly known as KLAC-AM. The rebranded station is co-owned by the company and the team.

Kansas State upgrading displays

Kansas State University pegged Daktronics to design, manufacture and install a new main video display and ribbon displays for Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium as part of a multiphase renovation scheduled through 2017-18. The LED video display will measure 39 feet high by 67 feet wide and be located in the northwest area of the stadium.

Seat removal started in January as part of Sun Life Stadium’s $400 million renovation.

Dolphins sign seating partner

The Miami Dolphins tapped American Seating as their new seating partner as part of Sun Life Stadium’s renovation. The process to drill and set the anchors for the new seating began last week, with full seat installation to follow through May.

NASHVILLE
Sounds sign founding partner

Vanderbilt University Medical Center will be the first of three founding partners at First Tennessee Park, which opens next month. Vanderbilt Sports Medicine will serve as the official sports medicine provider for Nashville Sounds players and on-field personnel and will have exclusivity at the Class AAA team’s ballpark.

Neeson narrates MSG’s ‘Moments’

MSG Network last week began a run of showing the first 10 episodes of “The Garden’s Defining Moments,” narrated by actor Liam Neeson, over 10 consecutive nights. The 20-part series, presented by SAP, celebrates some of the greatest moments at Madison Square Garden spanning the venue’s history.

Shaq headed to Magic HOF

The Orlando Magic will induct Shaquille O’Neal into its hall of fame on Friday at Amway Center. O’Neal becomes the third inductee into the hall, joining team founder Pat Williams and former teammate Nick Anderson. Selected by Orlando with the first overall pick of the 1992 NBA draft, O’Neal spent four seasons with the Magic, from 1992-96.

Goalie to have free McD’s for life

Ottawa Senators goalie Andrew Hammond has been told he has a special card coming that will allow him to eat free McDonald’s food for life, according to an Ottawa Citizen report. Hammond has an image of the brand’s “Hamburglar” character painted on his mask.

PHILADELPHIA
CONCACAF games to boost coffers

CONCACAF’s 2015 Gold Cup Final will be held July 26 at Lincoln Financial Field. The region also will host a third-place match, July 25 at PPL Park. The two matches are expected to bring 10,000 overnight visitors to this area and generate an economic impact of $13 million to $15 million.

Sixers, DraftKings create contest
The Philadelphia 76ers and DraftKings created a free fantasy contest exclusively for Sixers fans. Prizes include six sets of two courtside tickets. The 20 one-day, online contests involve competitors drafting a team of eight NBA players for accumulation of fantasy points.

Pirates installing metal detectors

The Pittsburgh Pirates are installing 44 walk-through metal detectors at PNC Park’s entrance gates. The move to walk-through metal detectors represents a shift away from the use of metal-detecting wands, which have been used since midway through the 2013 season.

BANBURY, ENGLAND
F1 team buys facility for HQs

Haas F1 Team confirmed its recent purchase of a facility in Banbury. The building, which had been the home of now-defunct Formula One team Marussia, will serve as the team’s European base. The facility will provide Haas F1 with easier access to its overseas suppliers.

LONDON
Harris on verge of Palace takeover

Philadelphia 76ers owner Josh Harris was on the verge last week of completing a $147 million purchase of Crystal Palace, according to a (London) Telegraph report. Harris and partner David Blitzer were close to taking full control of the club and could be officially unveiled early this week, following months of discussions with the club.

QPR could face $85M fine
Queens Park Rangers could face a fine of up to $85 million for breaking Football League regulations on financial fair play, according to a Reuters report. QPR could be sanctioned despite contending that their financial losses from last season had been greatly reduced.

MILAN
Arabian group may invest in team

An Arabian consortium is set to begin talks over investing in Serie A club AC Milan, according to a Forza Italian Football report. The club has been linked with groups from Thailand and China in recent months as owner Silvio Berlusconi looks to overseas investment.

Kia steps up to platinum level

Kia Motors will have a platinum sponsor role for the 2015 Copa América Chile, according to a Financial report. The agreement marks Kia’s second consecutive sponsorship of the tournament, having served as a gold sponsor for the 2011 event in Argentina.

City may pass on Olympic soccer

São Paulo could potentially be excluded from hosting any 2016 Olympic soccer games, according to a Folha De São Paulo report. The reason for São Paulo’s exit is that no governing body has wanted to handle the costs alone.
