MAC tourneys remain at The Q

The Mid-American Conference and Quicken Loans Arena agreed to a six-year contract extension to host the MAC men’s and women’s basketball tournaments at the venue through 2023. The current agreement runs through 2017.

USA Table Tennis signs PepPod

USA Table Tennis signed a partnership with Boulder, Colo.-based PepPod to become the group’s official nutritional energy drink. The deal includes event-based activation with the sport’s national governing body, which is based in Colorado Springs, along with title sponsorship of the USATT Insider newsletter.

DD points good for Pats tickets

The New England Patriots and team partner Dunkin’ Donuts launched Patriots365, a loyalty program that rewards season-ticket holders for using the DD Perks Rewards program. Earned credits can be used toward 2016 season-ticket invoices.

Bag Tags hits the pool

Bag Tags was named an official supplier to USA Water Polo. The two-year agreement runs through the 2016 Junior Olympics and Champions Cup and will see Bag Tags serve as the official credential supplier for all USA Water Polo events.

INDIANAPOLIS
Team rated best place to work

The Indianapolis Indians were named one of the “Best Places to Work in Indiana” by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The Indians, Class AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are the only Indiana sports franchise to be selected among the 100 award recipients. The overall rankings will be unveiled at a May 7 awards dinner.
 
NEWARK
Devils marking Cup’s anniversary

The New Jersey Devils will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 1995 Stanley Cup championship this weekend with players and coaches reuniting at Prudential Center. Members of what was the franchise’s first Stanley Cup winner will be honored Sunday at a ceremony before the Devils’ game against Philadelphia.
 
Loyal fans at Mercedes-Benz Superdome will pay the same ticket prices as 2014.

NEW ORLEANS
Saints to hold ticket prices steady

The New Orleans Saints will not increase ticket prices this season. Team owner Tom Benson informed season-ticket holders in a letter thanking them for their support. The Saints have had only one ticket price increase since 2009, when the team raised prices by $10 or less per game in 2013.

ORLANDO
City considers CFP bid

Orlando officials are mulling whether to respond to a request for proposal to host the CFP national championship after a $207 million Citrus Bowl renovation, according to an Orlando Sentinel report. Orlando was one of more than a dozen cities that received an RFP for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 CFP title games.

TJU sponsoring annual regatta

Thomas Jefferson University will serve as presenting sponsor of the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta, starting with this year’s 77th edition of the event, May 8-9. Financial terms of the five-year agreement were not disclosed. The regatta is touted as the nation’s largest annual collegiate rowing regatta.

Power Play Chips debut

The Pittsburgh Penguins have partnered with PLB Sports and Shearer’s Foods to produce Penguins Power Play Chips, available exclusively at Giant Eagle locations in the Pittsburgh region. A portion of proceeds will support the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation.

WTT Wild moving from Texas

A newly formed ownership group is moving the Irving, Texas, Mylan World TeamTennis franchise  — the Texas Wild — to the Sacramento area, beginning with the 2015 season. The team will be rebranded as the California Dream and will play at Sunrise Mall.
 
Amgen Tour dates set
The eight-stage, 724-mile Amgen Tour of California, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, will start May 10 in Sacramento and finish in Pasadena on May 17, according to a Los Angeles Times report. The final day will see the riders depart L.A. Live for a 60-mile stage.

Pollack takes adviser role

The San Diego Chargers tapped Jeffrey Pollack as a special adviser to team Chairman and President Dean Spanos to consult on the team’s stadium options and on future revenue growth. Pollack, who founded SportsBusiness Daily in 1994, has run his own consultancy, Sports Business Associates, since 2013.
 
SAN JOSE
Quakes add LED displays

The San Jose Earthquakes are outfitting their new Avaya Stadium with LED video displays designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics. The new main display is 24 feet high by more than 120 feet wide. Two ribbon displays are installed along the seating fascia. The primary ribbon display is 982 feet long.
 
TAMPA-ST. PETERSBURG
Rays to seek new stadium

Tampa Bay Rays owner Stuart Sternberg will seek a replacement for Tropicana Field no later than 2022 — with or without permission from St. Petersburg, according to a Tampa Bay Times report. The city’s veto power does not extend to any ballpark built after 2027, when the current team-city venue contract expires.

Blue Jays chipping up

Snack food brand Old Dutch has agreed to sponsor the Toronto Blue Jays as the official potato chip of the team and Rogers Centre. Old Dutch will be introducing “Canada’s Perfect Lineup” with co-branded bags of Old Dutch potato chips and a national consumer contest.

EINDHOVEN, NETHERLANDS
Team dons Umbro, drops Nike

Umbro added Dutch football club PSV Eindhoven to its lineup, according to an SB Nation report. Umbro and Eindhoven announced a new five-year deal that will see all of PSV’s teams wear Umbro kits starting with the 2015-16 season. Eindhoven has been a Nike team since 1995.
 
LONDON
Maui Jim going on tour

Sunglasses brand Maui Jim signed on as the official eyewear of the ATP World Tour. As part of the three-year agreement, Maui Jim becomes an official supplier of the ATP as well as the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals at O2 Arena in London in November.

Team, telecom extend deal

SC Paderborn 07 and telecom service provider Mediacom have extended their sponsorship agreement for another two years. The company will receive more presence in and around Benteler Arena. The deal was brokered by the Bundesliga team’s marketing partner Infront.
 
RIO DE JANEIRO
Vasco Da Gama renews deals

Brasileiro club Vasco Da Gama plans to renew its major sponsorship deals with Guaracamp and Caixa, according to an Inside World Football report. Soft drink producer Guaracamp reportedly will contribute $3.1 million this season as a shirt sponsor.
 
SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND
Team, sponsor eye player performance

Southampton FC has partnered with U.K. vitamin supplier Healthspan Elite. The club will collaborate with Healthspan by sharing data and working toward developing new products specifically created to enhance the performance of the Premier League team’s players.
 
TOKYO
Summer Games add gold partners

The Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee signed Canon, Fujitsu and NEC Corp. as gold partners, bringing the total number of companies signed to that tier to five. NEC will be the Summer Games’ public safety equipment, software and network equipment provider, while Fujitsu will be the data center hardware provider for the event.
