New displays for Alumni Hall

Daktronics will design, manufacture and install a new center-hung video display system at the U.S. Naval Academy’s Alumni Hall. The system will feature four individual video displays, 8 feet by 8 feet. A lower-ring display measures 2 feet high by 31 feet in circumference.

ATLANTA
Atlanta Track Club, Mizuno unite

Atlanta Track Club and Mizuno agreed to an exclusive partnership, uniting two Atlanta-based athletic brands. Beginning Jan. 1, Mizuno will be the official footwear and apparel partner of the club with a multiyear contract. Atlanta Track Club has more than 21,000 members, and more than 100,000 people participate in the club’s events and programs.

Spurs land jersey sponsor

The Austin Spurs reached a marquee sponsorship deal with Texas Descon that will place the commercial construction company’s logo on the front of the D-League team’s jerseys. The deal also includes sponsorship of “Under the Boards,” a report that follows the activities of players through weekly segments on the “Spurs Insider” show on Fox Sports Southwest.

CANTON, OHIO
Charge partners with SecureData 365

The Canton Charge reached a multiyear partnership deal with Canton-based SecureData 365 to be the D-League team’s presenting partner this season. The company’s name and logo will be incorporated into an assortment of marketing and promotional elements for the club.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.
UNC joins #TurnItGreen movement

University of North Carolina Athletics signed Unifi as an official partner. Unifi’s Repreve apparel is made from recycled materials, and UNC becomes the first college program to join its #TurnItGreen movement. Repreve plans to kick off its efforts at the Dec. 3 men’s basketball game at the Dean Smith Center by recycling more than 45,000 plastic bottles into Repreve-based items.

XTerra tour owner hires W Partners

Team Unlimited, owner of the XTerra World Tour, partnered with Chicago-based W Partners to manage its sales and marketing efforts to secure a new title sponsor for XTerra. The alliance expands the W Partners platform into the world of endurance sports.

Cannonball wall installed

In a nod to the Columbus Blue Jackets’ signature cannon firing to start the game and to signal a goal for the home team, corporate partner Nationwide has installed a cannonball wall and goal tracker. The wall will be updated with new cannonballs featuring the goal scorer’s signature after each home game. The display is located near one of Nationwide Arena’s entrances.

Swimming documentary premieres

“Touch the Wall,” a documentary about two Colorado Olympians, had its premiere at the Starz Denver Film Festival this month. Missy Franklin, a four-time gold medalist who now attends college in California, is the subject of the film, along with three-time silver medalist Kara Lynn Joyce.

DETROIT
Wings team with International Bancard

The Detroit Red Wings and Olympia Entertainment reached a multiyear partnership with International Bancard, a Michigan-based payment processing company. The agreement gives International Bancard exclusive naming rights for all events at the Olympia Club in Joe Louis Arena.

Red Bulls still ‘breathing’        
The New York Red Bulls are featuring the phrase “As long as we’re breathing” for their continued playoff drive this year. The theme, created by a longtime fan from the Empire Supporters Club, shows up on stadium banners, social media channels, digital videos and advertising. The Red Bulls continue their Eastern Conference championship play with New England on Saturday.

Nets align with Chinese companies
The Brooklyn Nets agreed to sponsorship deals with Anta, the China-based athletic footwear company, and Lava Tech, a digital product distribution company that also has its headquarters in China. Anta will receive television-visible courtside signage at Barclays Center this season as part of its deal.

Women’s cycling race on calendar

Philadelphia next year will host an event in the Union Cyclist International Women’s World Cup series, which is being rebranded as the Women’s Professional Road Cycling Series. The Parx Casino Philly Cycling Classic, which will be in its third year, is joining the series, becoming the first series event in the United States.

Wizards, WGL reducing carbon footprint

The Washington Wizards partnered with WGL and its Washington Gas subsidiary for the greening of Verizon Center for home games this season. WGL will be reducing the carbon footprint of the events by purchasing carbon offsets that counterbalance the carbon emission produced by Verizon Center for lighting, heating, cooling and concession cooking, as well as the carbon produced by the commute of event attendees.

Wasps complete arena purchase

Premiership Rugby club London Wasps completed the full purchase of the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, according to a BBC report. In October, the team bought Coventry City Council’s 50 percent stake, and it now has acquired the remaining shareholding from the Alan Edward Higgs Charity.

FC St. Pauli signs health partner

Second Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli signed a new partnership with health insurance provider Techniker Krankenkasse to become the squad’s official health partner. The partnership will run for 3 1/2 years.

MADRID
Centerplate hosts group in Miami

Atlético Madrid sent three employees to Miami on Nov. 13 for the Miami Dolphins-Buffalo Bills game to observe and learn about management, catering and hospitality, according to an AS report. They were hosted by Centerplate, the club partner that will manage catering at Atlético Madrid’s planned new stadium for at least 20 years.

FSV Mainz hires Sportfive

Bundesliga club FSV Mainz hired the Sportfive agency to sell its shirt sponsorship for the 2015-16 season, according to a Goal report. The deal follows existing shirt partner Entega’s October decision to downgrade its sponsorship after this season.

SuisseGas naming stadium bridge

Suisse Power & Gas SA was announced as Manchester City’s newest commercial partner. SuisseGas secured the naming rights for the new community bridge linking Etihad Stadium with the soon-to-be-opened City Football Academy, extending the Etihad Campus.

SYDNEY
Hotel planned for Royal Randwick

A 170-room hotel and entertainment facility at Royal Randwick racecourse was given the green light, according to a (Sydney) Daily Telegraph report. The eight-story development for the Australian Turf Club will feature an outdoor swimming pool and restaurant, parking, and a trackside bar and terrace.
