D-League team takes parent’s name

The Austin Toros, the NBA D-League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs, are changing their name to Spurs. In addition, SWBC, a San Antonio-based financial services company, reached a multiyear deal with the team to be the club’s first presenting sponsor.

BUFFALO
Sabres gracing Labatt cans

Labatt USA is using beer cans to promote both its sponsorship with the Buffalo Sabres and its U.S. headquarters in Buffalo. The Canadian brewer will be selling more than 1.4 million cans this season with the Buffalo-centric artwork.

New Sabres app rewards fans
The Buffalo Sabres are teaming with LoyalTree Sports on a new fan loyalty program called Sabres Fan Advantage. The mobile app gives fans the opportunity to earn points that can later be redeemed for merchandise, tickets and fan experiences.

CINCINNATI
JDL Warm upgrading Bengals’ space

JDL Warm Construction landed a contract to handle a multimillion-dollar renovation and upgrade of the players’ space at Paul Brown Stadium. The project involves rebuilding and expanding the Cincinnati Bengals’ weight room, aerobics room, player lounge and food service facilities, as well as the team’s television studio.

DALLAS
Stars, FS Southwest reach 11-year deal

The Dallas Stars agreed to a new 11-year TV rights agreement with FS Southwest that will keep the team’s games on the RSN. The deal provides for regional coverage of Stars regular-season games as well as some first-round playoff games.

Pacers’ sales outpacing 2013-14

The Indiana Pacers’ season-ticket renewal rate is 94 percent, according to an Indianapolis Business Journal report. Pacers officials said that overall ticket sales are 15 percent higher than the same time last year, sponsorship sales are up 9 percent, and preseason merchandise sales are 25 percent ahead of last year.

Devils sign Hotbox Sports

Hotbox Sports Ventures, a New Jersey-based fantasy sports technology and content provider, reached a sponsorship agreement with the New Jersey Devils. The deal calls for HotboxSports.com to be promoted across Devils team assets, including through in-arena and social media channels.

‘Brooklyn Scores’ campaign begins

Barclays Center began an extensive marketing plan to attract new fans in Brooklyn, according to a New York Times report. The “Brooklyn Scores” campaign was designed by Chicago-based Gameplan Creative and is using direct mail, social media, TV commercials and print advertising.

ORLANDO
Magic signs new Spanish flagship station

La Voz 1440 AM will serve as the Orlando Magic’s new flagship home for Spanish-language radio broadcasts. The station is part of the La Voz group of AM stations owned and operated by J&V Communications in Central Florida. Joey Colon begins his 17th season as the team’s Spanish-language play-by-play announcer.

PHILADELPHIA
Sixers partner with second casino

SugarHouse Casino signed a deal to be an official partner of the Philadelphia 76ers. Financial terms were not disclosed. SugarHouse Casino’s seasonlong promotions will include hosting a $100,000 Buzzer Beater Challenge at 10 Sixers home games. The Sixers in 2013 signed a multiyear deal with Parx Casino of Bensalem, Pa.

PHOENIX
Suns, Mercury banking with National

The Phoenix Suns and WNBA Mercury agreed to a multiyear marketing partnership with National Bank of Arizona to become the official banking partner of the teams. In addition to various community-based initiatives, the partnership calls for co-branded Suns credit and debit cards to be released during the coming NBA season.

Pens, Dr Pepper offer collector cups
The Pittsburgh Penguins are partnering with Dr Pepper Snapple Group to create a collector soda cup series this season. Fans can collect up to six different player cups. Each version promotes a Dr Pepper Snapple Group brand, and fans can receive a free refill with their purchase.

PORTLAND
Street renamed for ‘Dr. Jack’

The Portland Trail Blazers and Portland city officials changed the name of North Winning Way outside the team’s Moda Center home to North Ramsay Way, in honor of hall of fame coach Dr. Jack Ramsay, who died April 28.

SAN ANTONIO

Spurs fans will ring in the season
All fans attending the San Antonio Spurs’ season opener on Tuesday will receive commemorative NBA championship rings courtesy of H-E-B and BBVA Compass. The rings feature the Spurs logo, the team’s 2013-14 regular and postseason records, and a replica of the Larry O’Brien trophy with five studs, representing each of the Spurs’ five championships.

AHL game breaks ticket sales record

Ticket sales for the Toyota Frozen Dome Classic on Nov. 22 have surpassed the American Hockey League indoor attendance record of 20,672, a mark set on Jan. 18, 1997, when the Carolina Monarchs hosted the Kentucky Thoroughblades at Greensboro Coliseum. Tickets to the Carrier Dome matchup between the Syracuse Crunch and the Utica Comets range in price from $20 to $50.

BOLOGNA, ITALY
Saputo among Bologna FC buyers

SAPUTO
A group of North Americans led by lawyer Joe Tacopina have completed the purchase of Serie B club Bologna FC, according to multiple reports. Tacopina was named club president; Montreal Impact President Joey Saputo is also an investor. Tacopina and Saputo reportedly will make an initial investment of $16.5 million and will provide a $9 million payout to the club’s previous owners.

HANOVER, GERMANY
Team partners with Turkish Airlines

Bundesliga club Hannover 96 agreed to a multiyear deal with Turkish Airlines. The airline will be featured on LED boards at home games at HDI Arena, and the club will fly Turkish Airlines to games and training camps.

LONDON
RFU, Samsung sign 3-year deal

The Rugby Football Union reached a three-year partnership with Samsung. The deal makes Samsung the consumer electronics and smartphone partner and official home technology partner to the RFU and the England Rugby Team. Samsung will install more than 700 digital screens in Twickenham Stadium.

PARIS
PSG, EA renew partnership

Paris Saint-Germain and EA Sports renewed their partnership for three seasons. EA Sports will build on the partnership by developing dedicated content including video predictions and an exclusive jacket.

SOFIA, BULGARIA
Eurofootball signs with BFU

Sports gaming company Eurofootball has become an official partner of the Bulgarian Football Union and the country’s national football team, according to a Goal report. The Sofia-based sports betting operator signed a two-year contract.

SOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND
Southampton app has food ordering

EPL club Southampton has teamed up with smartphone app developer Qjacker. Fans can use the app to order food and drink at St. Mary’s Stadium.
