Svenningsen, who owned and operated New Jersey-based Sven Sports Management, will join Wasserman as executive director of action sports and Olympics. He will work out of Wasserman’s Carlsbad, Calif., office and report to Steve Astephen, managing director of action sports and Olympics.

Svenningsen also represents Aaron Blunck, who at 17 was the youngest member of the U.S. men’s freeskiing team, and Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, who competed for Canada in this year’s Winter Olympics.

“The addition of Mike makes us the clear leader in freeski representation,” Astephen said. “We do have competition in this space, but we have the largest and most accomplished roster.”

Wasserman Media Group entered the freeskier representation business in 2012 when it hired agent Michael Spencer, whose clients include Gus Kenworthy, the silver-medal winner in men’s slopestyle skiing at Sochi, and Dara Howell, who won the Olympic gold medal for Canada in women’s slopestyle skiing.

Other events in the Olympics freeskiing program are halfpipe and ski cross.

“We like the freeski category,” Astephen said. “We not only look at the athlete representation opportunities, but also work with brands tied to our strategic consulting services, including creative, digital, social media, events and experiential.”
