Bills implement fan safety app

The Buffalo Bills and Elerts Corp. reached an agreement to provide the Elerts Stadium app to fans this season. The app allows fans and facility staff to immediately communicate safety concerns, suspicious activity or irresponsible fan behavior to security and event personnel.

DALLAS
Stars, Mavs combine for retail

The Dallas Stars and Dallas Mavericks opened the doors to their new 2,800-square-foot stand-alone retail store, The Hangar at Victory Park. As part of the grand opening last week, the teams held a two-hour event with appearances by both teams’ mascots and street squads, as well as a raffle for tickets and signed jerseys.

Bowl honoring first responders
The Heart of Dallas Bowl announced a new mission in time for the fifth annual contest: to honor first responders through football. The groups that will be honored at the Dec. 26 game will include firefighters, police and EMS personnel; with tributes scheduled during each quarter, and presentations throughout the event.

SMU partners with Uber for rides
SMU Athletics reached a partnership with Uber Technologies for the 2014-15 football season. Uber will host a designated pickup station near Gerald J. Ford Stadium for all SMU home football games. Riders and drivers will be able to connect after each game.

HOUSTON
Astros to renovate upper deck

The Houston Astros will conduct an offseason renovation of the Mazda club level and upper deck at Minute Maid Park. The work will mirror that done on the main level last winter, and include branded and renovated concessions stands in partnership with concessionaire Aramark. The total cost of the latest projects will approach $5 million.

Tickets in all sections next season will be down from the January price boost.

Dodgers ticket prices up, then down

Los Angeles Dodgers ticket prices next year will range from $5 a game for reserved seats near the foul pole to $120 for front-row seats on the field level, according to a Los Angeles Times report. In 28 ticket categories listed by the team, the price increased from last fall in 27 (from 5 percent to 29 percent) and decreased from January’s price increase in all 28 (from 8 percent to 58 percent).

LOUISVILLE, KY.
Yum! Brands extends Derby deal

Churchill Downs and Yum! Brands signed a five-year deal extending the restaurant company’s presenting sponsorship of the Kentucky Derby, according to a (Louisville) Courier-Journal report. The deal runs from 2016-20, with next year’s Derby covered under the current pact signed in 2011.

Dolphins roll out all-year app

The Miami Dolphins launched their new official mobile app that engages fans all year long. The app integrates and extends the team’s membership platform while showcasing analysis of the team through enhanced video, audio and articles. The app, with presenting sponsorship from South Florida Ford, was designed in collaboration with eMbience.

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL
Arena space gets whiskey rebranding

The Minnesota Wild reached a deal with Jack Daniel’s that includes a renovation and rebranding of the Xcel Energy Center’s Headwaters Bar & Restaurant. The 220-seat Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Club — open to all fans — will be the centerpiece of a multiyear partnership between the whiskey distillery and the team.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.
New turf a gift from Bills, NFL

A $200,000 grant from the Buffalo Bills through the NFL Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corp. has led to a new turf surface at Nicoletti Field at Niagara Falls High School. The project was done in conjunction with the NFL Foundation’s Grassroots Grant Program.

ORLANDO
Tiger’s event gets 4-year title sponsor

India-based Hero MotoCorp. signed a four-year deal to serve as the title sponsor for Tiger Woods’ World Challenge event, according to a Golf Channel report. The Hero World Challenge will be played Dec. 4-7 in Isleworth, Fla. Hero is the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters.

PHILADELPHIA
Phillies, CBS Radio add year to deal

The Philadelphia Phillies and CBS Radio agreed to a one-year extension on a contract to air their games on Philadelphia-based WPHT-AM and WIP-FM. The team’s current three-year deal was set to expire at the end of this season.

PITTSBURGH
Penguins sign U.S. Air Force

The Pittsburgh Penguins entered into a one-year partnership with the U.S. Air Force. The deal includes print advertising, in-arena digital signage and tabling opportunities on the concourse of Consol Energy Center.

PORTLAND
Blazers, Moda set preseason tour

The Portland Trail Blazers and Moda are partnering for the second annual Rip City Relay, a weeklong journey around Oregon and southwest Washington that concludes at the Moda Center in time for the team’s season opener on Oct. 29. The tour begins Oct. 21 in La Grande, Ore.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
Caps begin milestone season

The Washington Capitals are marking their 40th anniversary this season. The celebration includes a commemorative logo to be worn as a patch on the team’s jerseys throughout the season and displayed on all home game pucks. Opening night on Oct. 9 at Verizon Center marks the anniversary of the franchise’s first game at the New York Rangers on Oct. 9, 1974.

Sharks retain Toyota through 2016
German Hockey League club Cologne Sharks extended its sponsorship with Toyota through 2016. Toyota has been the team’s exclusive car partner since 2002. The Toyota brand will be visible on boards, jerseys, pants and on the ice at Lanxess Arena.

DUNDEE, SCOTLAND
Sodexo signs with Dundee United

The catering division of services giant Sodexo secured a new three-year contract with Scottish Premiership side Dundee United, according to a (Scotland) Daily Record report. Sodexo Prestige will provide hospitality, conference and banqueting services at Tannadice Park.

DUSSELDORF, GERMANY
DEL team gets fashionable

German Hockey League club Dusseldorf EG teamed up with fashion and lifestyle brand Breuninger to become the team’s official outfitter. The partnership will run for one season until summer 2015.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
Telstra upgrading stadium Wi-Fi

Australian telecom firm Telstra signed a five-year, multimillion-dollar deal with Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium, according to an Australia Financial Review report. In a joint venture with Cisco, Telstra will install and provide wireless and Internet protocol television services, which will see 1,000 Wi-Fi hot spots installed in the 55,000-capacity stadium.

PARIS
PSG extends Panasonic deal

Panasonic extended its sponsorship deal with Ligue 1 football club Paris Saint-Germain, according to a SoccerEx report. The deal, originally signed in 2013, initially is based on the company’s beauty care range and is being promoted with photos of PSG players using electric razors. Panasonic will receive advertising rights at PSG’s Parc des Princes.

Penrith adds Hertz to sleeves

Sydney-based National Rugby League club Penrith Panthers agreed to a sleeve sponsorship deal with Hertz. Hertz has been a sponsor of the club for 12 years.
