Stadium lease meetings set
Two workshops are scheduled this month to publicly explain continuing stadium-lease negotiations with the Los Angeles Angels, according to an Orange County Register report. The meetings are set for Tuesday and Jan. 30 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Tenants sought for rent-free dates
The city of Charlotte and the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority are working to find tenants for four rent-free dates this year at Bank of America Stadium, according to a Charlotte Observer report. Each of the four dates is worth $250,000, and tenants could include concerts or international soccer matches.
Clemson signs two Premier Partners
Clemson University signed multiyear sponsorship deals with Greenville Health System and Coca-Cola at the Premier Partner level. Both will receive premium signage in all athletic venues and exposure on the Clemson radio network.
Jackets partner with YP
The Columbus Blue Jackets reached a new corporate partnership with YP. The partnership encompasses ice-level and electronic messaging during games as well as an in-arena feature supported via social media channels and radio broadcasts. YP connects consumers to businesses through the YP.com website, the YP mobile app and the YP Real Yellow Pages.
Tim Hortons, the official coffee and baked goods provider of the Blue Jackets, has brought back the specially themed Stinger Donut, available starting last week. Tim Hortons has been a team partner since the 2000-01 inaugural season. Fans were able to meet mascot Stinger at various Tim Hortons locations last week.

Speedway back in track’s hands
Barton Marlow, the primary contractor on the Daytona International Speedway renovation project, last week turned the track back over to speedway personnel, who will begin the prep for race season, according to a Daytona Beach News-Journal report. The company for the last two months worked on parallel projects with the “Daytona Rising” steel structure and preparing the main grandstand construction zone for race fans.

Dodgers adding bullpen “lookouts”
The Los Angeles Dodgers are introducing lookout spots above the bullpens next season, according to a Los Angeles Times report. The lookouts are the focal point of a Dodger Stadium expansion beyond the foul poles in left and right fields.
The classic lines and colors of the shop fit in with the Nets’ overall brand identity.

GQ last week was set to open a fully functioning barbershop at Barclays Center, in partnership with Fellow Barber. The 400-square-foot barbershop will be a permanent fixture on the venue’s main concourse throughout 2014, offering haircuts, shaves, and GQ-approved products during events.
H&M Beckham spot set for Super Bowl
Clothing retailer H&M is returning to the Super Bowl with a new David Beckham Bodywear campaign. The company will unveil a 30-second Beckham TV spot during the second quarter of the game featuring new technology allowing viewers with select Samsung smart TVs to buy pieces from the collection instantly.
Colbert pitching pistachios during game
Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert will star in two Super Bowl spots for Wonderful Pistachios. This will be Wonderful Pistachios’ second consecutive appearance as a Super Bowl advertiser. Colbert reached a full-year agreement to endorse the brand.
Union extends deal with PA 529
The Philadelphia Union reached an agreement to extend its partnership with the Pennsylvania 529 College Savings Program for two years, through 2015. The PA 529 is the official tax-smart college savings plan of the Philadelphia Union, PPL Park and Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer.
Suns, Mercury sign education partner
Northern Arizona University reached a new multiyear marketing partnership agreement with the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury to become the official education partner of the teams. NAU will work with both teams on community and education-based initiatives.
Pens, district at odds over arena land
The Pittsburgh Penguins after nearly a year of talks still haven’t been able to win the backing of Hill District leaders for a proposed residential, office and commercial redevelopment on the publicly owned land where Civic Arena stood, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report. Disagreement over affordable housing has been the major stumbling block.
MLSE seeks players monument
Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment filed an application to the municipal authorities to erect a monument that will honor former players and reside in or around Maple Leaf Square, according to a Toronto Star report. Barca museum treats lucky trio
Alex Jiménez and his two sons, Estanis and Dídac, became the 25 millionth visitors to the FC Barcelona Museum on Jan. 4, according to an El Periodico report. The museum opened in 1984. The three were treated to an exclusive tour of the museum.
Borussia Dortmund renews Rewe
Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund renewed its sponsorship deal with supermarket chain Rewe until 2016. Media reports suggested that the deal is likely to be worth a sum in the mid-six-figure euro range.
ITU moves its headquarters
The International Triathlon Union’s Lausanne office will now serve as the official headquarters for the federation. The change from Vancouver to Lausanne was effective last week. Vancouver had served as the ITU headquarters since 1989, when the organization was created.
Centerplate extends Copper Box deal
The U.K. division of U.S. hospitality provider Centerplate — formerly The Lindley Group until its acquisition last year — will continue managing all public and event catering at the Copper Box Arena. The contract is for 10 years, although the value of the deal was not disclosed.
PSG adds 8 years to Nike deal
Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain agreed to an eight-year extension to its partnership with Nike, according to a SoccerEx report. The Qatari-owned club will now wear Nike match-day jerseys and training wear until the end of the 2021-22 season. Nike has been a partner of the club since 1989.
Grand Prix gets green light
The authority in charge of granting permission to the Red Bull Ring to host the Formula One Austrian Grand Prix gave its approval for the race to go ahead, according to a Kurier report. The circuit in Spielberg, which will host the race June 20-22, will be allowed a maximum of 225,000 spectators over the grand prix weekend.
