The Boston Red Sox reached a new agreement with the Boston Redevelopment Authority in which the club will pay $7.34 million and transfer rights to a parcel of land to the city and the authority for continuing rights to use Yawkey Way on city-licensed event days at Fenway Park. The agreement with the authority, established in 2003, was set to expire Oct. 31.
Sabres’ Weber honors military
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Mike Weber will donate tickets to soldiers this season as part of the “Tickets for Troops” program. Weber will provide a pair of tickets for each home game to a different military member from Western New York starting with this Friday’s home opener against the Ottawa Senators.
Jackets sign multiple new partners
The Columbus Blue Jackets added multiple new corporate partners for the 2013-14 season. Multiyear partnerships include City Apparel, D.A. International Casting Co., Raising Cane’s and R Bar. In addition, Noodles & Company’s new partnership is built around supporting participation in local hockey programs.
Broncos opening new plaza
The Denver Broncos were set to open a Ring of Fame Plaza on the south end of the stadium Sept. 27. The plaza has 24 steel pillars honoring the Ring of Famers, those individuals who made important contributions to the success of the team. Each pillar has a bronze likeness of an individual’s face.

The Detroit Tigers welcomed their 3 millionth fan of the season to Comerica Park this month. The Tigers have surpassed 3 million tickets sold in back-to-back seasons, and have exceeded 3 million tickets sold in four of the last seven years.
Wings add Vivid Seats to roster
The Detroit Red Wings picked Vivid Seats as the team’s official fan travel partner. The deal features exclusive offers for fans at all home and road games this season, with packages that include game tickets, hotel accommodations, transportation and souvenir gift bags.
The Milwaukee Bucks last week showed off the design for their new court at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The giant “M” on each side of the floor is inspired by artist Robert Indiana’s 1977 Mecca floor. The unveiling of the design was held at the Milwaukee Art Museum.
Vikings renew with New Amsterdam
New Amsterdam Spirits renewed its sponsorship deal with the Minnesota Vikings. New Amsterdam Gin will be sold at a stand on the stadium concourse for all games. The sponsorship also includes the use of official team marks.
Kings of Leon playing hockey fest
Kings of Leon will be the headlining act for Tuesday’s Molson Canadian NHL Face-Off festival in Montreal. The band’s set will be featured on the CBC’s “Hockey Tonight” pregame show, and CBCSports.ca will offer a live stream of the performance.
Eagles renew Acme supermarket
The Philadelphia Eagles and Acme renewed their partnership for the next five seasons, making Acme the team’s official supermarket through 2017. Financial terms were not disclosed. The two organizations said they plan to launch several promotions, including “Swoop In and Win” and the “Kickoff Kid Sweepstakes.”

Independence Blue Cross partnered with the Philadelphia Phillies, 76ers, Flyers and Union to create Home Team IBX, a website offering team-specific content and Blue Cross-sponsored programs promoting health and wellness.
Retired NBA star Shaquille O’Neal joined the Sacramento Kings ownership group. O’Neal, as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, stirred deep anger in the capital city by labeling its team the “Sacramento Queens” in the 2002 Western Conference finals.

Spikes report higher numbers
A new affiliation with the St. Louis Cardinals this year helped produce the State College Spikes’ all-time best record (48-27, .640 winning percentage), a division title and a trip to the New York-Penn League Championship Series. The Short Season Class A Spikes welcomed more than 142,000 fans to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, an increase of nearly 10 percent over the 2012 season and the franchise’s best total attendance since 2008.
Institute adds ASU to helmet study
The Translational Genomics Research Institute added Arizona State University as a research partner in a new study that will combine molecular research with a high-tech football helmet to detect concussions. The institute has been working with Easton-Bell Sports since May to study concussions.

BBL team extends telecom deal
Basketball Bundesliga club Telekom Baskets Bonn extended its title sponsorship deal with German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom for an additional three years until 2016, according to a General Anzeiger report. Financial details were not disclosed, but the deal is estimated to total $3.4 million, according to the report.
Real Madrid revenue tops $700M
At Madrid’s General Assembly, Real Madrid President Florentino Pérez discussed the organization’s affairs with more than 900 shareholders. A Libertad Digital report quoted Pérez: “Despite Spain’s economic situation, Real Madrid has capably increased its sponsorship.” The team earned $704.6 million last season, and projected revenue for the coming season is $696 million.
Wind turbine set for stadium
Football League Championship Middlesbrough’s stadium is set to become Britain’s first big sports venue to be powered by wind turbines, according to a (London) Daily Mail report. The club will install a 136-meter-tall wind turbine in Riverside Stadium’s overflow parking lot. The 1.5 million-watt turbine will provide all the electricity required for the stadium for the next 20 years, according to the report.
New golf tourney sanctioned
Fiji will host a new $1 million golf tournament starting next August as part of a five-year deal with the PGA of Australia, according to a Reuters report. The Fiji International will be played at the Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course and will be co-sanctioned with the OneAsia Tour.

Real Madrid-brand resort on hold
A planned $1 billion Real Madrid-branded resort in Ras al-Khaimah has been halted and a Marjan Island football senior executive said that the project may be switched to Abu Dhabi, according to a Reuters report. The attraction was to have been built on the man-made Marjan Island, 65 miles north of Dubai.
