Celtics renew with promo partner

Grossman Marketing Group, a print and promotional products company based in Somerville, Mass., renewed its marketing partnership with the Boston Celtics. Grossman produces print and sales material, bobbleheads, “Read to Achieve” giveaways, rally towels and other promotional materials.

Front Row to sell tourney inventory
Hockey East partnered with Front Row Marketing Services for exclusive sales rights for the men’s and women’s Hockey East Tournament Championships. Front Row will sell men’s and women’s league playoff inventory as well as tournament naming rights, in-arena signage and other assets for both the women’s championship in Hyannis, Mass., and the men’s tournament at TD Garden.

BUFFALO
Sabres sign New Wave Energy

The Buffalo Sabres have a new corporate sponsor and power supplier at First Niagara Center. The club signed a deal with New Wave Energy Corp., a Buffalo-based electric and natural gas supply company. In addition to supplying power to the arena, the company will serve as an in-game sponsor for power plays and signage in the penalty box area.

EVERETT, WASH.
Stealth touts ‘Hockey With Balls’

The National Lacrosse League’s Washington Stealth rolled out its 2013 season marketing campaign, “It’s Like Hockey … With Balls.” The campaign is designed to give new fans an understanding of professional box lacrosse. “Hockey With Balls” was developed in-house and is activated through radio, television, print and online.

MIAMI
Jostens repeats with Heat

Jostens will create the Miami Heat’s 2012 NBA championship ring and a collection of championship jewelry. The ring will be presented to players, coaches and members of the executive front office during an on-court ceremony at AmericanAirlines Arena on Oct. 30. The Heat worked with Jostens in 2006 to produce the team’s first championship ring.

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C.
3 Point to manage Carrier Classic

Seattle-based 3 Point Productions has partnered with the Morale Entertainment Foundation to manage game-day operations for the 2012 Carrier Classic on Nov. 9 from the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The doubleheader features Ohio State vs. Marquette in the men’s game and Notre Dame vs. Ohio State in the women’s game.

Arena fills out Business Alliance

Barclays Center signed new corporate partnerships with Applebee’s, McDonald’s, New York Lottery, Party City, Reese’s, Robert Mondavi Wines, W.B. Mason, and Apollo Jets. The partners will be members of the Barclays Center Business Alliance. Several of the partners have alliances with the Brooklyn Nets, as well.

BCTV launches at Barclays Center
Barclays Center launched BCTV, a custom in-arena and online video network featuring original content about the arena’s events and Brooklyn. BCTV will appear on the venue’s 700 HDTVs before and after events, as well as online at BarclaysCenter.com. Alyonka Larionov will be the host of BCTV.

ORLANDO
Magic rebuild with new campaign

“We Will” is the Orlando Magic’s new marketing campaign. A team of 25 Magic staff members worked with local advertising firm Great Big Circle to create the new slogan, which was designed to promise fans and partners that the Magic will rebuild.

PHILADELPHIA
Phillies exhibit opens at museum

“Phillies Fandemonium” opened at the newly renovated Philadelphia History Museum at the Atwater Kent. The exhibit includes photos and video footage of fans and vintage baseball memorabilia and souvenirs, including a 2008 locker room champagne bottle that Phillies teammates sprayed after winning the World Series championship, and seats from Veterans Stadium, home to the Phillies and Eagles from 1971 to 2003.

AdvoCare title sponsoring Cup race

AdvoCare International was named title sponsor for Phoenix International Raceway’s Nov. 11 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event. The AdvoCare 500, the penultimate race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, will be the feature event for the track’s November race weekend.

Padres show off Coleman statue

The San Diego Padres unveiled a statue of longtime broadcaster Jerry Coleman last month in a pregame ceremony. The ceremony honored Coleman for his service to his country in World War II and the Korean War, as well as his 70 years in baseball and 40 with the Padres. The 650-pound statue depicts Coleman in his Marine flight gear and was created by Brian Hanlon of Hanlon Sculpture Studio. The studio also created the photo panels.

Kings renew dozens of sponsors

The Sacramento Kings renewed sponsorships with nearly 50 corporate sponsors and have lined up new sponsors for the 2012-13 season. The team also is tailoring packages to small and midsize businesses. New sponsors include Nokia Siemens Networks and Wal-Mart, each of which is entering its first NBA franchise sponsorship.

Bank sponsoring teams, championships
The Qatar Football Association signed a three-year partnership with Qatar National Bank as its strategic sponsor for Qatar’s national teams and all domestic football championships, according to a Qatar Tribune report.

DUBAI, UAE
Mixed-gender relays debut
The opening meet of the World Cup in Dubai swimming event last week featured 4x50-meter mixed-gender relays for the first time, according to an Associated Press report. FINA has said that such relays could be introduced at the short-course world championships in Istanbul in December and one day become an Olympic event.

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL
British firm installing World Cup seats
British company Nöra BlueCube won the contract to supply the seats for the Castelão stadium in Fortaleza, according to a report at Portal2014.org.br. The company will start installing the seats in the 64,000-seat World Cup stadium this month.

HANGZHOU, CHINA
Surfers ride the Silver Dragon
Sixteen surfers from four teams — two from the U.S., one from Australia and one from Brazil — competed in the Red Bull Qiantang Surfing Shootout in Hangzhou, China, last week. The river-surfing event was expected to attract more than 200,000 spectators as the tidal bore, also known as the Silver Dragon, reaches its annual peak, according to a China Daily report.

Architects compete for Bernabéu
Real Madrid unveiled the four pro-jects that the club has on the table for the remodeling of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, according to a Europa Press report. The four architects reportedly competing for the contract are Lamela-Populous, Moneo-Herzog & De Meuron, Norman Foster-Rafael de Lahoz, and GMT Architekten-L35-Ribas.
