The Brooklyn Nets named Jeff Gewirtz executive vice president of business affairs and chief legal officer for the Nets and Barclays Center, and promoted Travis Lee to creative director for the Nets and Barclays Center. Illiana Blackshear was promoted to hospitality and ticket administrator for Barclays Center. The Nets promoted Abner Neufeld to director of group and arena sales, Frank Sullivan to executive director of group and arena sales, Christine Bowns to director of VIP services, Jared Kaye to manager of financial analysis, Ben Couch to manager of interactive marketing, Darren Meyer to director of partnership marketing, JM Caparro to vice president of ticket sales and service and Adar Wellington to entertainment coordinator and dance team coach.
The Memphis Grizzlies and FedEx Forum named Toiaya Crawford corporate communications coordinator. Crawford handled event marketing and communications for the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The Phoenix Suns hired Steve Albert as television play-by-play announcer.

Virginia Commonwealth University hired Ed McLaughlin as athletic director. McLaughlin was athletic director at Niagara.
Jacksonville University named Brad Edwards athletic director. Edwards was athletic director at Newberry College.
Steve Dennis will step down as athletic director of Troy University on Sept. 30.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course hired Michael Evranian as manager of business development.

The Detriot Lions hired Elizabeth Parkinson as senior vice president of marketing and partnerships. Parkinson was senior vice president of marketing and communications for the Michigan Economic Development Corp.

The Symetra Tour’s Symetra Classic named Mike Fresina tournament director.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hired Steve Staios as player development adviser. Staios was a defenseman for the New York Islanders.

NBC Sports Group named Dan Steir senior vice president of production and senior coordinating producer for NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network. Steir was senior coordinating producer for ESPN.

Dave Feldman was named anchor and reporter at CSN Bay Area.
