China’s VP makes a stop at Staples Center

Xi Jinping, the vice president of China, concluded his recent United States visit at Staples Center in Los Angeles, where he watched the Lakers defeat the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 17. Xi (center) was the guest of (from left) Staples Center SVP and GM Lee Zeidman, AEG China President John Cappo, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and  AEG President and CEO Tim Leiweke. Also welcoming him were California Gov. Jerry Brown, basketball hall of famer Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Galaxy’s David Beckham.

CSN awards help March of Dimes

Comcast SportsNet Chicago held its 24th annual CSN Sports Awards benefiting the March of Dimes on Feb. 13 at the Sheraton Chicago. The event drew more than 1,000 people and raised more than $720,000 for the March of Dimes. Among those on hand were CSN Chicago President Jim Corno (left) and Chicago Blackhawks Hall of Fame goaltender Tony Esposito, recipient of a Lifetime Achievement award.

IMG College recognized for training again

Magic evening

The Orlando Magic held its annual corporate partner “thank you” dinner Feb. 16 in Epcot at Walt Disney World, attended by Magic players, coaches and front office executives, including owner Rich DeVos (left) and CEO Alex Martins.
