People: Bills promote Whaley to assistant GM

College
Greg Warzecka, athletic director at University of California, Davis, will retire June 30.

Eastern Michigan University hired Christopher Hoppe as associate athletic director for compliance. Hoppe was assistant athletic director for compliance and sport supervisor at Robert Morris University.

Loyola University Chicago hired Pat Kraft as senior associate athletic director for external operations. Kraft was the senior assistant athletic director for marketing at Indiana University.

Gary Williams will become a special assistant to University of Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson. Williams retired as men’s basketball coach.

Syracuse University hired former football star Floyd Little as special assistant to the athletic director.

Lamar University Athletic Director Larry Tidwell is stepping down from the position. He will continue as the women’s basketball coach.

San Diego State University hired John David Wicker as senior associate athletic director. Wicker was associate athletic director at Washington State.

Illinois State University hired Gary Friedman as athletic director.

Facilities
Jack Hill, general manager of Cowboys Stadium, stepped down from his position.

Texas Motor Speedway hired Dave Crome as broadcast media relations manager. Crome was anchor and sports director for KDAF-TV.

Global Spectrum
promoted Joe Sheridan to assistant general manager of the Wells Fargo Center.

Football
The Buffalo Bills promoted Doug Whaley to assistant general manager and director of player personnel. They also hired Tim Gibbons as director of pro personnel and Chuck Cook as director of college scouting.

The San Francisco 49ers promoted Jeff Ferguson to director of football operations and sports medicine.

Golf
The PGA hired Brian Cleek as corporate partnership sales account executive. Cleek was vice president of business development for the Harlem Globetrotters.

The USGA promoted Mike Butz to senior managing director for open championships and association relations and Rand Jerris to senior managing director of public services.

Hockey
The American Hockey League’s Worcester (Mass.) Sharks promoted Kristyn Galante to account executive and hired Paul Altmeyer Jr. as director of corporate sales.

Horse Racing
Oak Tree Racing Association’s president, Jack Robbins, stepped down and will assume the role of chairman of the board of directors. John Barr was elected president.

Octagon Brazil hired Diogo Kotscho as director of communications.

Fox Sports Houston promoted Murphy Brown to executive producer and Jeff Muckleroy to coordinating producer.

MLB Network promoted Jennifer Shaw to senior vice president of strategic planning and integrated marketing.

Sports Illustrated hired Julie Souza as vice president of business development. Souza was vice president of strategic planning and business development for CBS Sports Network.

Univision promoted Carlos Deschapelles to senior vice president of sports sales.

Delaware North Cos. hired Danielle Mozeleski as marketing coordinator at TD Garden. Mozeleski was a public relations and marketing specialist for The Hermitage.

Station
The Omaha Sports Commission hired Keith Station as assistant director. Station was national sales manager for the sports and entertainment division of Irving Convention & Visitors Bureau in Texas.
