CBSSports.com doesn’t have the raw traffic counts of Yahoo! Sports, the relentless promotional machine that is ESPN or the tonnage of live events that is the core of MLB Advanced Media. But the site under Jason Kint, senior vice president and general manager, nonetheless has more than held its own in one of the most competitive segments of the entire sports industry.

Under Kint, CBSSports.com has built one of the stalwarts of the fantasy sports business, including a pay-for-play component that also is an industry leader and was recently buttressed by a partnership with MLBAM to include video highlights and other exclusive content. Kint paired that high-end fantasy product with a series of entries in the casual and social gaming space with new products such as CBS Franchise Football on Facebook.

March Madness On Demand, similarly, has grown in recent years into an online juggernaut, last year again setting records with more than 8.3 million unique visitors and 11.7 million total hours of consumed audio and video. The latter figure was nearly five times the sum from just two years prior, and aided in part by a strong move of the property into various mobile platforms.

MMOD is now operated by Turner Sports as a result of the historic NCAA rights deal struck last year by CBS and Turner. But Kint remains actively involved with MMOD on a sales and strategy basis.

A fast-growing college sports business, particularly through key partnerships with the SEC that include popular live streaming of games, has similarly bolstered the brand’s leadership position in that space.

“The marketplace is really beginning to understand the kind of quality, passionate and engaged audience we’ve developed,” Kint said. “We see a ton of momentum moving in our direction.”
