People: MLS and SUM promote 15, hire 3

Minor League Baseball hired Rusty Morris as manager of creative services and Sheryl Hamilton as a receptionist.

Chicago White Sox senior director of corporate partnerships Jim Muno resigned from his position, but will continue selling White Sox corporate sponsorships as an external sales executive.

The Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Oklahoma City RedHawks hired J.P. Shadrick as director of media relations and broadcasting and play-by-play announcer. Shadrick was play-by-play announcer for the Class AA Southern League’s Jacksonville Suns.

The Class A Midwest League’s Bowling Green (Ky.) Hot Rods named Ryan Gates general manager. Gates was general manager for the independent Frontier League’s Lake Erie (Ohio) Crushers.

Baseball Factory hired Ryan Schweikert as a player development coordinator.


The Harlem Globetrotters hired Angela Leaney as executive vice president of brand marketing. Leaney was chief marketing officer for Newsweek.

The Big 12 Conference promoted Bob Burda to associate commissioner for communications, Ed Stewart to associate commissioner for football and student services, Keri Boyce to assistant commissioner for compliance and Neesha Quinn to assistant business manager, and hired David Flores as assistant commissioner for governance and academics. Flores was director of student-athlete services at Texas State University.

National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Executive Director Mike Cleary will step down, effective July 1. Deputy Executive Director Bob Vecchione will then become executive director. Also, Ryan Virtue was hired as assistant administrator and association liaison.

Colgate University promoted Ann-Marie Guglieri to associate athletic director for compliance and Jamie Mitchell to assistant athletic director.

The U.S. Military Academy named Boo Corrigan athletic director. Corrigan was senior associate athletic director for external affairs at Duke University.

The University of North Carolina promoted Amy Herman to associate athletic director for compliance.

Pace University Athletic Director Joseph O’Donnell will retire, effective May 31.


Las Vegas Motor Speedway hired Kevin Camper as senior vice president of sales and marketing. Camper was chief partnership and sales officer for Professional Bull Riders Inc.

Watkins Glen International promoted Brett Powell to senior director of marketing and fan experience, Ryan Lake to senior manager of public relations and Mike Eckert to senior account executive.


The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America named Rhett Evans chief executive officer.

The NHL named former player Rob Blake a manager in its hockey operations department.

Momentum Worldwide hired Josh Tavlin as executive creative director of the company’s New York operation. Tavlin was senior vice president and group creative director for Ogilvy.

Home Team Marketing hired Andrea Essig as an administrative assistant in its Cleveland office.

Front Row Marketing Services promoted Eric Smallwood to senior vice president.

IMG hired James Robinson as managing director of IMG Challenger World. Robinson was commercial director for Upsulot Sports UK, and will be based at the IMG regional headquarters in London.

Home Team Marketing promoted Danny Chalhoub to group director for schools and Maura McGrath to senior graphic designer.


Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic named Ray Frager managing editor for the network’s digital media portfolio. Frager was a web content producer and editor for

Horizon Media hired Daniel Parise as an account director in the sports marketing division. Parise was business development marketing director for eFashionSolutions.

IMG College hired Shelby Wright as director of training and development events based in its Atlanta office, John Burt as general manager at Florida A&M University, Phil Carden as an account executive with the Ohio Sports Network at Ohio University, Alexa Smith as director of operations for Georgia Sports
Properties at the University of Georgia and Ian Sadler as a partner services coordinator with Razorback Sports Properties at the University of Arkansas.

Turner Sports hired Paul Volen as vice president and general manager for SI Digital. Volen was vice president of business development and operations for new media for the PGA Tour.

The American Le Mans Series hired Erin Cechal as director of public relations and media
services. Cechal was a communications specialist for Just Marketing International.
