Published June 7, 2010
“The Real Score,” a new 60-minute sports information show, will debut Sept. 12 in 30 markets reaching more than 22 million homes. “‘The Real Score’ fundamentally believes that the viewer is much smarter than they are being given credit for,” said David Hersh, the show’s creator and its executive producer. “We intend to give the viewer access to some of the best minds in the sports industry and have them discuss the issues of the day, or use these leaders to provide an in-depth look at how the sports business works.”
The initial list of contributing talent for the program includes Neal Pilson, Jerry Rice, Ron Shapiro, Peter Luukko, Pat Williams, Stan Kasten, Randy Vataha, Vince Dooley, Steve Phillips, Jim Tressel, Carl Peterson, Phil Esposito, Dawn Hudson and Eddie DeBartolo. Weekly features include In the News, offering a summary of the news of the week past and a view of the week ahead as presented by SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily.
“The Real Score” is owned by Real Score Productions of Tampa. Real Score and Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. entered into an agreement that places the program on 20 Fox affiliates preceding NFL football programming and on similar time slots on 10 ABC, CBS, NBC, CW and MyNetworkTV affiliates. The show will be produced at the Sinclair studios of WBFF-TV in Baltimore. Sales for “The Real Score” are handled exclusively by DeBartolo Sports and Entertainment.
