Tennis coming to Cowboys Stadium
The Dallas Cowboys are planning their inaugural Cowboys Tennis
Slam for July 10, an offering that will feature both a Maria Sharapova-Serena
Williams match as well as an Andy Roddick-John Isner match. The court will be
set up in one of the end zones of Cowboys Stadium, with seating configured for
20,000 fans.
BOSTON
NESN analyst to open restaurant
NESN Boston Red Sox analyst Jerry Remy has a deal with the
Cronin Group to open a new 200-seat Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill. The
5,000-square-foot restaurant will be at Liberty Wharf, the $43 million
waterfront development in South Boston, according to a report in the Boston
Herald. This would be the second namesake restaurant for Remy, with an existing
site located near Fenway Park.

NAHL team moving south
The North American Hockey League board of governors approved
the transfer of ownership of the Alpena (Mich.) IceDiggers membership and its
relocation to Corpus Christi, Texas, for the 2010-11 season. The team will play
home games at the 7,400-seat American Bank Center.

Red Wings bump up ticket prices
Detroit Red Wings season-ticket prices will go up by an
average of 11 percent next season, marking the team’s first price increase in
eight seasons, according to a report in The Detroit News. The team sent out
season-ticket renewals with prices ranging from $15 to $125 per game, according
to the report.
Tigers group awards $250K
The Detroit Tigers Foundation, an affiliate of Ilitch
Charities, presented nearly $250,000 in grants to 18 organizations during an
on-field ceremony prior to the Tigers’ May 30 home game. The grants will
directly support organizations that serve thousands of children and families
throughout Michigan.
DENVER
Lacrosse championship going west
Denver will host the 2014 World Championship for Men’s
Lacrosse, which is expected to bring teams from as many as 38 nations to town
for the event. It’s the first time the international event, held every four
years, is being staged somewhere in the United States other than the East
Coast. Denver was one of 10 U.S. cities that applied to host the tournament.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.
NJSEA buys season tickets for VIPs
The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority spent almost $1
million to lock up 142 season tickets for the New York Giants and New York
Jets, seats that will be used by VIPs, including elected officials, according
to a Bloomberg News report. Business partners, politicians and others
associated with the NJSEA will be able to buy the tickets from the authority,
which plans a service fee to recoup costs, according to the report.
KANSAS CITY
Royals click with Printroom
The Kansas City Royals are partnering with Printroom on a fan
photo program during select home games this season. Printroom’s professional
photographers will take photos of fans at Kauffman Stadium. After selecting
their photos online, fans can purchase the photos, which may be personalized
with Royals custom-branded templates and borders.

Marlins’ ticket transition under way
The Florida Marlins started sending current season-ticket
holders official notice of their priority appointment dates to purchase season
tickets in the club’s planned new ballpark, opening in 2012. The first
appointments will take place on June 15 for premium-seat Batters Box ticket
holders.
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL
Arena refinancing plan discussed
Minneapolis and Hennepin County may be on the cusp of a
tax-sharing agreement that would allow the city to go ahead with new financing
for Target Center’s debt and citywide neighborhood programs, according to a
report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The city and county agreed to a deal in
principle but have been hung up on a clause the county wants: a cap of $180.1
million on the amount from the tax-increment proceeds, according to the report.

Aramark opens Flyers outposts
Aramark opened four team store outposts in the city to sell
Philadelphia Flyers jerseys and souvenirs, along with Stanley Cup merchandise,
after the Flyers reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1997.
The four stores opened in the lobby of the Comcast Center, in a street-level
space at Aramark’s corporate headquarters, and in gift shops at the National
Constitution Center and the Kimmel Center.

Parrot will ‘Cruise’ for charity
The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Pirate Parrot mascot, in partnership with
Mosites Motorsports, will embark this month on a 350-mile charity effort called
Cruise for a Cure across the state of Pennsylvania. The motorcycle run,
scheduled for June 28-30, aims to raise funds and increase awareness for
prostate cancer research. The mascot will arrive in Pittsburgh on July 1 in
time for the beginning of the Pirates’ series with Philadelphia at PNC Park.
Fans can visit pirates.com/cruise to view the Parrot’s route and make
donations.

River Cats honor Dallas Braden
The Sacramento River Cats
offered a $19 “Purr-fect Game Package” for their June 3 game to recognize
Oakland A’s pitcher Dallas Braden, a former River Cat, for becoming only the
19th player in MLB history to throw a perfect game. The ticket was offered to
the first 209 fans in the 209 area code of Stockton, Calif., Braden’s hometown.
