Minor League Stadiums

Ken Schnacke, president and general manager of the Columbus Clippers, says the team’s new Huntington Park aims to acknowledge baseball old and new.

To that end, murals of Columbus players throughout the decades are making the move from the club’s former Cooper Stadium home to hang in the new facility. The new park’s outfield wall, meanwhile, will feature LED technology.

For young fans, the ballpark has a fountain, playground and kiddie locker room. For adults, there’s raised bleacher seating beyond left field that provides a perspective akin to the rooftop seating across from Wrigley Field.

Sponsorship deals include agreements with The Columbus Dispatch, Nationwide Insurance and Nationwide Realty, with Huntington Bancshares securing naming rights for $12 million over 23 years.

Daktronics provided the ballpark’s scoreboard and video boards. Sodexo provides concessions services.

The  opening comes in year one of a new, in-state MLB affiliation for the Clippers, with the Cleveland Indians. The club last year was affiliated with Washington and had been paired with the New York Yankees before that.
