The Houston Astros promoted Bobby Heck to assistant general manager for scouting and named David Gottfried assistant general manager for player relations.
The Philadelphia Phillies promoted Ruben Amaro Jr. senior vice president and general manager.
The Pittsburgh Pirates hired Jim Benedict as a special assistant to the general manager. Benedict was a major league scout for the Cleveland Indians.
The Washington Nationals promoted Adam Cromie to assistant director of baseball operations, Erick Dalton to coordinator of advanced scouting and video, Kris Kline to assistant director of scouting and national crosschecker, Brian Parker to director of baseball operations and Ryan Thomas to coordinator of minor league operations. The team named Pat Corrales a special consultant to the general manager and Devon White a special assistant in player development.
The Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Fresno (Calif.) Grizzlies promoted Scott Carter to senior vice president of marketing, Garrett Fahrmann to senior vice president operations, Shaun Northup to vice president of tickets and Josh Phanco to vice president of corporate sales. Executive vice president Andrew Stuebner added the title of general manager.
The Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Omaha (Neb.) Royals promoted Paul Hammes ticket operations manager and James Jensen to ticket sales executive, and hired Dave Endress as director of ticketing and Diann Spataro as a corporate sales executive.
The independent Atlantic League’s Lancaster (Pa.) Barnstormers promoted Vince Bulik to general manager.
The WNBA’s Seattle Storm hired Jennifer Carroll as public relations manager, Zachary Fraser as director of ticket sales and service, Chauntelle Johnson as community relations senior coordinator and Teresa Wippel as director of communications and community relations.
The Drexel University Sport Management Program hired Sal DeAngelis as an adjunct faculty member. DeAngelis is event operations manager for the Philadelphia Phillies.
Illinois State University promoted Keith Trivitt to assistant media relations director.
Indiana University named Fred Glass athletic director. Glass was a partner in the law firm of Baker & Daniels and was president of the city of Indianapolis’ 2011 Super Bowl Bid Committee.
The Summit League named David Brauer director of media relations. Brauer was associate director of media relations for Northern Illinois University.
Roger Dean Stadium named Noel Ruiz-Castaneda ticket office manager.
Global Spectrum named Troy Flynn the first general manager of the new Spaladium in Split, Croatia. Flynn was assistant general manager of the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, N.J.
Toronto Argonauts Chief Operating Officer Brad Watters stepped down from his position.
National Women’s Football Association founder and Chief Executive Officer Catherine Masters stepped down from her position.
The Tampa Bay Lightning promoted Patrick Duffy senior vice president of sales, Mark Gullett to vice president of marketing and Brad Lott to executive vice president, sales and marketing, and hired John Franzone as vice president of event production and entertainment and Steve Thomas as executive vice president of corporate sales and marketing partnerships.
Churchill Downs promoted Austin Miller to president of Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots in New Orleans, and named Eric Halstrom vice president and general manager of racing at Fair Grounds Race Course. Halstrom was vice president of racing and simulcasting operations at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minn.
The New York Racing Association hired Kimberly Justus as director of guest services.
Elite Sports Marketing hired former NBA player Dwayne Schintzius to lead its basketball division.
Arluck Promotions promoted Trevor Joelson to account representative and hired Zoie Springer as marketing manager.
