SI relaunches golf.com with improved features, new partners
Published March 19, 2007
Sports Illustrated is relaunching its golf.com site today with five sections, more broadband video and three launch advertisers.
The move, which includes Cobra Golf, Footjoy and Titleist as official launch partners, comes a week after SI.com set up a cross-promotional partnership with NBCSports.com that will see the two sites point viewers to each other’s content.
SI officials expect one of the more popular features to be an original video segment from Golf Magazine columnist and CBS commentator David Feherty that it is calling “Fly on the Ball.”
Thanks to the relaunch, the site will be broken into five sections:
News, featuring exclusive stories and columns
Instructional videos, with hundreds of hours of content
Courses and travel, which includes reviews, maps and driving directions
USGA Handicap Tracker, which allows golfers to calculate their handicap through the U.S. Golf Association
Company officials estimate that the revamped golf.com site will have more than 3 million unique users a month.
