A-B renews Chargers deal
Published March 6, 2006
Anheuser-Busch renewed for another five years as sponsor of the San Diego Chargers. As part of the deal, Anheuser-Busch gets permanent signage in Qualcomm Stadium, meaning the deal encompasses not just the Chargers’ 10 home games, but also San Diego State games, two college bowl games and other events.
Chargers marketing director Ken Derrett declined to provide financial terms but described the deal as significant.
Anheuser-Busch’s deal with the Chargers expired after last season, along with the team’s other beer sponsor, Miller Brewing. The Chargers are still negotiating for a second sponsor in that category, which would have the trademark rights of Anheuser-Busch, but not the in-stadium exposure.
Anheuser-Busch sponsors 28 NFL teams.
