Kathleen Fineout, Major League Baseball director of marketing communications, resigned effective Aug. 12. MLB named Joe Garagiola Jr. senior vice president of baseball operations. Garagiola was senior vice president and general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks named Bob Gebhard interim general manager. Gebhard was vice president and assistant to the general manager for the club.
USA Baseball named Bob Watson general manager, professional baseball operations for 2005-08. Watson is vice president, on-field operations for Major League Baseball.
The Los Angeles Dodgers hired Joey Seymour as a sales associate.
The Memphis Grizzlies promoted Mike Levy to senior vice president, sales and marketing; Randy Stephens to senior vice president, broadcast; Mike Redlick to senior vice president, corporate partnerships; Chad Bolen to vice president, corporate partnerships and Dennis O’Connor to vice president, ticket sales and services.
The New Orleans Hornets named Bob Licht television play-by-play announcer and Sean Kelly radio play-by-play announcer.
The WNBA hired Robert Weber as general manager, WNBA sales and business development. Weber was vice president and publisher of Travel and Leisure Golf magazine.
The American Basketball Association named Angela Rizzi vice president of entertainment. Rizzi is co-owner and director of entertainment of the Florida Pit Bulls.
The Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics named Amy Privette Perko executive director and Welch Suggs associate director. Perko was associate director for the commission, and Suggs was senior editor for athletics for The Chronicle of Higher Education and formerly a staff writer with Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal.
The Big East Conference named John Marinatto senior associate commissioner and Mia Brickhouse and Bobby Weygand assistant directors of sport administration.
The Big South Conference named Nic Bowman assistant director of public relations. Bowman was public affairs assistant for the Southern Conference.
Iowa State University promoted Josh Snyder to assistant athletics director for compliance and named Katherine Roenfeldt director of compliance, Mary Pink assistant athletics director for marketing and Donald Reed associate athletics director for academic affairs.
Ohio University hired Brian Gunning as director of media relations. Gunning was assistant director of athletic communications at Syracuse University.
Dave Coskey resigned his position as president of Comcast-Spectacor Marketing. Also, Comcast-Spectacor named Abey Coker and Jennifer Kron assistant public relations managers at the Wachovia Complex in Philadelphia. Coker was public relations manager at the Colonial Center in Columbia, S.C.
Kathy Ross was hired as public relations manager for the Xcel Energy
Center in St. Paul. Ross was an account executive at Olson and Co. in Minneapolis.

West Point Thoroughbreds hired Kerry Carlson as the company’s first president of marketing. Carlson was vice president of brand communications for SME.
