Jacobs leaving Millsport for XM Satellite Radio

Millsport President Howard Jacobs is leaving the Omnicom sports marketing firm to join client XM Satellite Radio as senior vice president of strategic partnership marketing.

Jacobs helped Millsport win the agency-of-record assignment for XM last December. Five months later, he is responsible for leveraging XM’s roster of content and marketing partners, which include Major League Baseball, the PGA Tour and Starbucks. Jacobs has been at Millsport for three years, during which the agency won such business as Taco Bell, Tylenol and Sunoco, and merged with fellow Omnicom shop The Marketing Arm.

“I’m happy to have helped re-establish Millsport in the agency world,” Jacobs said, “but joining XM is a great opportunity to join an organization on a fantastic trajectory.”

In the newly created job, Jacobs will relocate from Atlanta to Washington, D.C., and will report to XM executive vice president of sales and marketing Steve Cook.

Millsport Chairman Bob Basche said plans for readjusting management roles at the agency were not complete.
