Show Me money: Missouri arena delivers revenue

The University of Missouri is marking this year’s college basketball season with a new venue featuring a seating element that’s unique among U.S. college arenas.

According to Missouri officials, Paige Sports Arena is expected to bring about $3.3 million annually in new revenue to the school from the sale of premium seats alone. The $75 million venue has 26 suites and 1,000 club seats as well as 16 loge boxes with a total of 80 seats. That loge-seating element is considered a first for a U.S. college arena.

The former home for the school’s basketball teams, the 32-year-old Hearnes Center, had no premium seating.

Paige Sports Arena’s premium-seating offerings and its other amenities were featured in the Oct. 11-17 issue.
