CART sale completed
The final documents transferring CART to Open Wheel Racing Series were signed last week, and the Champ Car World Series will begin with the April 18 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. OWRS told The Associated Press that it has letters of intent from teams representing 18 cars, as well as a television package and at least 15 races planned this season. OWRS partner Gerald Forsythe said, "We are pleased that the deal has finally been completed and that we can shift our focus to the racing."

LeBron model tops charts
The LeBron James Air Zoom Generation shoe, which was released Dec. 20, has been Nike's most successful shoe launch in two years, topping sales of the Jordan XVII and XVIII. ESPN.com reported that the LeBron model has sold more than 93,000 pairs to date, while the Magic's Tracy McGrady has sold 49,000 pairs of his Adidas T-Mac III model and the 76ers' Allen Iverson has sold 41,000 of his Reebok Answer 7's. Nike global director of basketball Ralph Green told ESPN.com, "I don't know if we could have anticipated any better."

Kellerman jumps to FSN
Fox Sports Net announced last week that Max Kellerman,

Kellerman
former host of ESPN's "Around The Horn," has joined the network. Kellerman will host a 30-minute daily show based out of New York that will launch in mid-April, which network executives described as a mix between "The O'Reilly Factor" and "The Daily Show." Kellerman also will contribute to FSN's "Sunday Night Fights" and other programming.

Bobcats close to RSN
Arrangements for a regional sports network owned by the Charlotte Bobcats should be completed within a month, team owner Robert Johnson said late last week. Time Warner Cable will be the primary carrier of the sports network.
