Cal McGowan was hired as program director for the Rochester (Mich.) Hockey Club.

James Garino was named vice president of the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League

The Colorado Eagles, set to begin play in the Central Hockey League in 2003, hired Chris Stewart as director of hockey operations and coach and Michael LaPlaca as director of media relations.


Christopher Baker was named marketing coordinator at Front Row Marketing Services in Clinton, Mich.

Rob Baldwin was hired as national sales manager for Duofold, a division of Sara Lee in Tamaqua, Pa.

The Gem Group named Margo Vallone president of Gem Group New York, Christopher De Maria was named vice president in the New York office and Ray Rotolo was promoted to vice president, group director in New York. Ashriel Magee was named public relations manager and Katie Fassbinder assistant account executive in the Denver office.

Peter Ramos was promoted to Bay Area sports marketing manager at PSP Sports.

Betsy Barrett was named vice president in charge of the staffing solutions division at Turnkey Sports in Washington, D.C.

Chicago-based Intersport named Elisa Lewis vice president of client services.

Tim Hinchey was hired as vice president of brand development for Golden Gate Doughnuts LLC, the Krispy Kreme franchise in Northern California, where his duties will include managing sports marketing partnerships.

Sarbjit "Sab" Singh and John Bruel started marketing consultancy Avila Partners with offices in Los Angeles and New York.

Tom Berry was hired as director of sales for

Brand Sense Marketing hired Brad Horn as vice president, brand development and Amy Willus as senior brand manager.

Synergy Sports Management of Columbia, S.C., hired Jason Waugh as director of West Coast operations and Mark Bloom as an associate agent.

Nancy Monsarrat was named U.S. advertising director at Nike in Beaverton, Ore.

Charlene Russell was named director of operations in the sports hospitality and entertainment division at Chicago-based sports television and marketing company Intersport.

Interactive-media developer Steele Technologies named John Banse executive vice president and COO, Ralph "Skip" Morgridge vice president for government programs and Grant "Rocky" Sandy director of engineering.


Andree de la Garza was named sales development director for The Outdoor Co. and will be based in the New York City office.

Brett Mahle was hired as an account executive for WDTN-TV in Dayton, Ohio, where his responsibilities will include selling ads for local and national sports programming.

Eli Gold, the voice of the University of Alabama, joined the Sports USA Radio Network as a play-by-play announcer for NFL and college football games.

Fox Sports Net North hired Marney Gellner and Robb Stauber to join the network's on-air staff. Gellner hosts FSN's Minnesota Timberwolves pregame show, "Timberwolves Ticket," and serves as courtside reporter for the network's Timberwolves telecasts. Stauber will work on FSN's "Golden Gopher Ticket" pregame show, airing 30 minutes before the network's Golden Gopher men's hockey telecasts.

Terry Chick was named anchor for Fox Sports Net South's regional news programs and "Southern Sports Tonight"; he also serves as studio host for the "Dodge Braves Report." Edward McDonald was named an anchor/reporter for regional news programs airing on Fox Sports Net South and Fox Sports Net Arizona.

TransWorld Media, Time4 Media's publisher of action sports teen publications, made the following staff promotions: Michael Jaquet, publisher of Freeze magazine, was promoted to director of sales development at TransWorld Media, Brad McDonald to vice president of operations at TransWorld Media, Mike Mihaly to associate publisher for TransWorld Skateboarding, Monica Campana to associate publisher for TransWorld Stance and Laurie Bergthold to marketing manager for TransWorld Media.

Golf Magazine in New York promoted Peter Morrice to executive editor responsible for instruction and travel, Hunki Yun to executive editor of features and equipment and Rob Sauerhaft to managing editor/equipment.
