Team: USA Volleyball

Event: Championships (also known as USAV Open)

Dates: 2004 (May 29-June 5), 2005 (May 28-June 4) and 2006 (May 27-June 3) (beginning Saturday prior and ending Saturday after Memorial Day)

History: 2002, Dallas; 2001, Milwaukee; 2000, Columbus

The pitch: 520-plus adult teams, for an expected total of 7,000 participants and spectators, participate in eight days of competition. USAV annual meetings will occur prior to the week of competition. The venue shall have open floor space of at least 200,000 square feet available, preferably as much as 300,000 square feet. This area should be able to accommodate a minimum of 36 courts with space for portable bleacher seating and the championship desk. It is preferable to have all courts in the same venue, under one roof. USA Volleyball wants to contract with the fewest hotels necessary to provide a minimum of 8,500 room nights during the 16-day event and annual meeting time. Event: USA Junior Olympic Girls Volleyball Championships

Dates: 2004 (June 23-30) and 2005 (June 25-July 2)

History: 2002, Salt Lake City; 2001, Salt Lake City; 2000, Louisville, Ky.

The pitch: 572 teams, for a total of 7,000 participants and 30,000 to 40,000 spectators, participate in eight days of competition. The venue should have an open and unobstructed floor space of at least 250,000 square feet. This area should be able to accommodate a minimum of 30 courts with space for portable bleacher seating. There should be seating for a minimum of 50 people at each court, except for the feature courts, which should accommodate 500 to 1,000 people. USAV will require hotel blocks to accommodate approximately 25,500 room nights.

Event: USA Junior Olympic Boys Volleyball Championships

Dates: 2004 (June 30-July 4), 2005 (July 6-11) and 2006 (July 5-10)

History: 2002, Louisville, Ky.; 2001, Phoenix; 2000, Reno, Nev.

The pitch: 290-plus teams, for a total of 8,500 participants and spectators, participate in six to eight days of competition. The venue should have an open and unobstructed floor space of at least 250,000 square feet. This area should be able to accommodate a minimum of 30 courts with space for portable bleacher seating. There should be seating for a minimum of 50 people at each court, except for the feature courts, which should accommodate 500 to 1,000 people. USAV will require hotel blocks to accommodate approximately 8,200 room nights.

Dates: 2004 (June 24-27), 2005 (June 30-July 3) and 2006 (June 29-July 2) (weekend prior to the Boys' Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships in same venue)

History: 2002, Louisville, Ky. (first year)

The pitch: 256 teams, for a total of 9,500 participants and spectators, participate in four days of competition. This event takes place in the same venue as the Boys Junior Olympic Championships, which are held the next week (see previous item).
