Ohio State offers program for athletic staff
Published October 15, 2001
Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business will offer a course on the business of sports aimed at high-school and university athletic department administrators and staff.
Participants in the Sports Leadership Program will receive training in human-resource management, customer-relationship management and customer service, accounting, finance and budgeting. The course was developed for OSU staff by athletics director Andy Geiger and Leslie Fine, an associate professor of marketing.
"Coaches and managers have excellent training and resources for their specific functions, but that same level of training is not typically available for those working on the administrative side of the sports programs," Fine said.
The program will be held the week of Oct. 29 and will be repeated next summer. For information, call Susan Davis at (614) 292-0917.
