Inside the Construction of Invesco Field at Mile High

Financing: The team has agreed to cover at least 25 percent of the projected $400.8 million cost, with current plans calling for a contribution of about $112 million. The Metropolitan Football Stadium District in January voted to accept a 20-year, $120 million offer from Invesco Funds Group for naming rights to the venue. Half of that money will go to the Broncos for advertising inside the stadium, while the other half will be used to reduce the public's share of the project cost. Also in play is a penny-per-$10 sales tax in the six-county Denver metro area that will repay $244.9 million in bonds issued in 1999. The balance of the cost will be covered by other sources that include interest payments ($10 million), cash ($18 million) and a separate Broncos contribution related to a bond issue tied to the projected naming-rights revenue stream ($15 million).

General contractor: Turner Construction Co.

Construction managers: Empire Construction, Alvarado Construction

Concessionaire: Volume Services America

Playing field consultant: Desso DLW Sports Systems. Invesco Field becomes the first NFL venue to use DD GrassMaster, a natural grass surface reinforced by artificial fibers where there are three artificial blades for every 100 blades of natural grass.

Decoration: Bucko the Bronco, the 16,000-pound, 27-foot-tall white stallion that oversaw games at Mile High Stadium for 25 years, was repainted and moved to the new facility and now sits atop the venue's south end-zone scoreboard.

Pouring rights: Coca-Cola Co.

Bond trustee: Wells Fargo & Co.
