Chicago won't forget Sosa

Sammy Mania lives on — at least in Chicago.

Though eclipsing Roger Maris' mark of 61 homers no longer will get Sammy Sosa in the record book, it will get his picture on a commemorative T-shirt.

Apparel manufacturer Pro Player Inc. said it will produce a shirt to mark Sosa's achievement if he reaches 62 homers, distributing the merchandise only in the Chicago area. The company

wasn't planning to create a commemorative shirt for the second player to eclipse 61 but changed direction when Chicago retailers insisted there would be demand for one.
