Belfast's Winsdor Park One Of Nine Stadiums Shortlisted For 2020 Super Cup

UEFA announced Belfast's Windsor Park is among nine European grounds in the running to host the UEFA Super Cup in '20, according to Matt Slater of the PA. Home to Northern Ireland, owned by local club Linfield and refurbished in '16, the 18,434-seat capacity stadium also bid for the '19 event but lost to Istanbul's Vodafone Arena. Nations hosting Euro 2020 matches were not allowed to enter bids for the 2020 Super Cup. Declarations of interest at this stage "are not binding and final proposals must be submitted" by March 29 (PA, 1/15). The other eight stadiums that have expressed interest are Tirana, Albania's National Arena; Minsk, Belarus' Dinamo Stadium; Helsinki, Finland's Olympic Stadium; Nice, France's Grand Stade de Nice; Haifa, Israel's Sami Ofer; Almaty, Kazakhstan's Almaty Central Stadium; Chisinau, Moldova's Zimbru Stadium; and Porto, Portugal's Dragão Stadium (UEFA).
